Hi,

thus a few days after NAMM one of their sales guys indicated, that Yamaha plans to merge Steinberg product families! :o

They're discussing to have only two products in the near future. A box composed of all their instruments and plugs, and a Nuendo product line with four versions for all sequencers. All will have the Nuendo audio engie, probably the best existing. They will vary through the feature sets from entry level, semi professional, music production and professional like ProTools.

Folks, what are you say'in now?

Please please Mr Yamaha make the An1x into a vsti. Mine got broken in a stupid drunken brawl. To make matters worse I was'nt even involved. Needless to say the two miscreants paid for their crimes, with a Morpheus and an Orbit. But I do miss the Big Blue one. This is still one of the best VA's I've had the pleasure of, a vsti version would do just the trick.

doesnt sound like a big deal to me. nothing shocking.
i dont care if its named cubase or nuendo. if its a good program, and they offer a good upgrade path from SL3, then im ok with it.

hope this is true , because steinberg has more manpower for one product then

I don't know if I buy that. All the instruments in one package? It better be a significant discount, or no one is going to spend that much money for a bunch of products they don't want/need. HALion, HALion Strings 2, XPhrase, Virtual Guitarist/Bassist, Hypersonic 2, Groove Agent 2, the Grand 2, and Virutal Instruments Collection all retail for $2841 total. Granted, you have a full band there, but for how much? $2499? Deep discounted to $1999? Combining Nuendo and Cubase into one product on the other hand makes sense.

Since Steinbergs plugins kinda suck I couldn't care less if they bundled it.

And the differentiation between cubase and nuendo seems really arbitrary to me anyway. I think it's a good step.

It is answer to Kore. I think Kore may win if they will be more flexible in copy protection.

Just a guess...but maybe the idea is to include all the instruments and provide dongle activation for just the product(s) that you purchase.

Also, I wonder where Wavelab would fit into such a scenario?

Just interested from a business perspective--although I have purchased a considerable amount of Steinberg product in the past, I will buy no more until they lose the dongle fetish and the attitude.

surely it wont include the full spec plugs - youll get a virtual guitarist light or something

still it might be in an effort to counter logics plugs etc

and if it is priced much over $1000 that logic costs it's strikes me as a big loser

but presumeably they can throw in the waldorf plugs, xphrase, halion and model-e (!) for next to nothing

so sounds good to me - a nice cheap upgrade tho - i certainly don't want to be forced to apy for vsts I wont use
I believe every thread should devolve into character attacks and witch-burning. It really helps the discussion.

Certainly possible. The Retailers package includes all their software and the dongle. Just need to authorize which plugs you want the NFR to activate and for how long.

Two conclusions: there will be no further Steinberg instruments, second the product line is being subsumed into pro audio hardware integration. Goodbye Cubase for the home/ prosumer users. Guess the fanboys are going to have to get their bugs fixed for the final cut.

I doub they're just going to ditch the prosumer market...that is their market!

Neither do I, I just don't think they're going sail flagship Steinberg into it. Something a little more silicon based. Something you can count onto the ships from Japan.
