Let's stick to software solutions if possible.
I'm wondering what might be more effective:
- convolution EQ (Hydratone, Convo Boy, etc.)
- Circui/tube emulation (Vintage Warmer, Antares Tube)
- and does Voxengo's Curve EQ fit into this discussion as well?
I must say, I'm very interested in using convolution to apply the"warmth" of a vintage mixing desk, or preamp for example...

PSP Vintage Warmer generally does it for me. I've not tried a lot of the stuff others mention.
P.S.: I start every track with Meffy's Genuine Analog Silence Generator for the ultimate in right-from-the-beginning warm sound.

Live recording of guitar, bass, and vocals, in a room that's noisier than I might wish.
...And monkeying around with Dominion and Endorphin on the master out, to thicken it all up and make it chewy....
Take care,
GreyLion

As skunks go I'm friendly, affectionate, but not terribly smart. Luck of the draw. =^_^= Despite overwhelming demand, downloads of my analog silence samples and Transparency Preserver are hard to find these days. Sorry... I think they're too good for this world.
