I'm thinking of trying out ColorTone free by Tritone but it needs Pluggo to be installed first. Will installing pluggo affect the efficency of the system? Are there any issues that are known at present? (ie. does it run silently in the background)

Presumably you mean the Pluggo Runtime. Shouldnt have any effect, its merely the audio processing 'engine' that Tritone was built with. Its a bit like needing Reaktor to run a Reaktor ensemble...
An idiot on Set Theory:
"In some cases there is an object called red that contains everything that is red. In much the same way a pot is a plate."

No trouble here (OSX 10.4.4), yes, make sure you get the runtime, not the full version. ColorTone Free is a very subtle effect, however if you can demo the Pro you'll hear a lot of wonderful stuff.
