Yes it would be more but the Value for Money and the musical power would be many times that of Reason.
how many times?
40%? 23%? what if another tool was added, one was taken away - how would that effect the power ratio comparison?
Plonk.

Stupid American Pig wrote:Agreed with headquest, Reason is more than just the devices, the samples included are top notch, and much better than any softstudio I have heard. The included samples in FL studio are laughable at best, I wish that they would package it with out them.* That said I think that since Reason 3 did not include an overwhelming amount of new features, I would have liked to have seen the reason drum kits included in the deal. Ah well.
no you are right about FL6's samples, they indeed suck. But there are like 2 gigs of downloadable ones, for free -- and with a 50 meg installer what do you expect right?

@Tek: It's only bashing if you actually hit your target, and IMO you've not done. :-) But enough, yes.

unfortunately, orkester is great for electronic artists, but if you're really into symphonic stuff, it wont cut it in the slightest.

Octamed running on a Commodore Amiga 500 is clearly the best music tool ever :hihi:

Post

Best music tool is an old pocketknife. Find you a willow stick, slip the bark, a few quick cuts, slide it back together -- a flute! Also handy for making idioglottal clarinets from disposable ballpoint pens. Beat that, Amiga.

My pocketknife is better than yours!

:D

Probably is. Had mine for three and a half decades. It's got a bit worn by now. Carving that complete 1:6 scale replica (non-functioning; can't have everything) of the Mixtur-Trautonium out of a solid block of mahogany back in the eighties took the original hone off the main blade's edge, and I've just not had the heart to do it over.

I'm impressed.

Feh. Damascene steel aliases 20-40% less.

@whyte: Oh, like I can afford that kind of blade on what I make. Besides, think about it -- what do you use to hold a pocketknife? Your fingers. Your digits. Digital = aliasing.

I rest my case, or rather scabbard.

Teksonik wrote:You have all that software and don't have a proper lappy to run it?
Erm, yes I do have a propper lappy thank you, and all my software currently works VERY well on it

The only two things that don't seem to be working very well at present are 1) Meffy's pocketknife, and 2) your brain. :P

Sorry, I just don't agree. IMO, it's an immensely lame and lackluster update. Perhaps for your needs, as a sound designer, it offers some interesting possibilities but sorry, after almost 2 years in the making, I hardly find it to be a "significant" update.

Post

I liked the update - the combinator & the m-class effects were both much needed additions.
I must admit that I do hope for some more soundgeneration capabilities in a future update.
Here's hoping that 3.5 is as useful/exciting as 2.5 was.
