UPDATE February!! Look further down this posting.
www.xsynth.com releases the XSynth Library Refill
Hello KVR
Some might know me as the maker of EVOL VSTi, Uno FM VSTi and Additive Refill. Well here is something to add to this list.
The XSynth Library Refill.
This library have been my main project for 2 years. In basic its a very compact library of building stones consisting of waveforms sorted into categories.
This library is not intended to give you bread n' butter patches, the world have enough of these, also the library is not a (lets sample machine x) library but instead this is about exploring, having fun and stimulating the creative mind with a exclusive sample material build from the ground.
With the addition of the Combinator in Reason 3.0 my library became more user friendly cause now i can pack a setup into the combinator and have people worry about 4 knobs and 4 buttons instead of hundreds.
The XSynth Library is subscription based cause i plan to keep this library growing.
I'm a man of few words so i'll get to the basics right away:
XSynth Library:
is more than 2000 Samples(Waveforms)
100 MB Refill size
comes with 81 Combinator Patches
is modular in its own way.
cost 99.00 EURO for year 2006 Subscription
Here is a short 16x10 sec demo of sounds from the library:
http://www.xsynth.com/demos/XS_Library_DEMO1.mp3
More MP3 Demos with notes and details can be found at http://www.xsynth.com/demos/
If you want to know more about this library then head over to http://www.xsynth.com
-----------------------------------------------------
XSynth Library have been updated to version 1.1
111 new combinator patches have been added and a small update to the Drums Module.
MP3 demos are posted on a regular basis on:

About this time 1 year ago i released a free refill called additive. It holds 69 additive waveforms and is ultra compact (700 kb). Since XSynth Library dont come with a demo other than the MP3's you can hear in the demos section i thought that this refill could give you an idea of what its like to play around with waveforms.
I took the 2004 demo song which is included in the additive refill and put in a few rex loops. This one RNS song file is 8.20 min. long and demonstrates the use of waveforms. Sound focus is on the 1982-1995 area so no hypersaw here ;o) The song holds about 70 NN-XT patches, no kidding!
Try give it a go if you havnt done that allready:

The Additive Refill is registerware, means you have to register to download.
How to register: http://www.xsynth.com/cgi-bin/forum/Bla ... 1132968279
Happy new year

Back again. This is realy good refill (again by mp3).
I like TB TRUE demo. Last time when i was "looking into" Reason that Subtractor thing doen't impress me but it seems that you know how to program thing (how did you get tfilter so close?).
Bass Donna Subtractor is like some old Orbital song
Anyway i think that this is good sample fill. 99.euros is not cheap but again it's good.

The reason for making the TB TRUE was that i liked the feel of the TB Clone in Rebirth so i decided to use that one as a reference point. I copy'ed the filter and eq range to a Subtractor version which is more flexible than running Rebirth within Reason.kmonkey wrote:Back again. This is realy good refill (again by mp3).

Yup the library may sound like a pricey thing but considering its a subscription library for all of year 2006 i think its pretty fair.

Did you use some exciters in mastering? In each example mix is pretty good. Or this is straight export??
Mix has some magical space. Or this is probably due experience in reverb programming...

It's a straight export. Hmmm the exciter feel you might think is there, is what i tend to call clever patch use, meaning i dont force a sound to be anything that it is from the start. Lets say i sit with a string pad and it needs more hi freq, in this case i dont go for the hi freq gain on the mixer eq but go for another string patch which i better suited for hi freq sound. It might not sound as good as my first choice but in all the new string suit the mix better in all.kmonkey wrote:Did you use some exciters in mastering? In each example mix is pretty good. Dunno about the space thing but i used to provide mixes for productions companies with space for vocals and stuff so maybe thats stuck with me
Reverb settings in Reason take some (read alot of) practise and i'm still on a learning curve on how to get the best of it.
