Can't comment on the sound quality except to say that it seems plenty of people use and like the sound quality of Voxformer (me included), and you get much more in Voxformer for the small price difference.

* Two built-in vocal compressors
* Switchable crossover (2 types)
* Gain reduction meters
* 4-band equalizer
* Real-time FFT spectrum analyzer
* Asymmetric compression
* Vintage saturation module
* De-esser module (2 types)
* Presence boosting module
* Noise gate module
* High quality mode
* "A-to-B" comparisons
* Mono-to-Stereo, Stereo-to-Stereo processing
* Any sample rate is supported
* Factory presets
* 64-bit internal precision
* Native assembler DSP code

compared to

• An intelligent compression method, optimized for vocals
• One slider does it all - forget about "threshold", "ratio" etc.
• "Dual" mode for extremely dynamic sources
• Gate option for eliminating background noises (room-tone etc.)
• A low-cut option, to diminish "poofs" and hums
• A large and intuitive gain-reduction meter, with clip indicator
• Trimmers for release time and output level

I don’t own any of the above mentioned compressors but I have tested them extensively
and didn’t like them at all. I know that lot’s of people are really enjoying Voxformer but whenever I tried it on any vocal tracks that I have it always sounded harsh and unpleasant. In my opinion, Vocsteady levels things out a bit better then Voxformer and even easier to handle but it also has some metallic ring to it. Voxformer has a lot more tonal options but as I said I didn’t like the sound of it. Believe it or not but I’m about to buy Tracktion 2 because of the compressor that is included in this program. I auditioned it and to my ears it is the best digital compressor that I’ve heard so far.

This is just my opinion that is also based on the kind of music I do which is Folk, Irish, Country, Vocal Spiritual and whenever I suffer from insomnia I do a bit of Trip-Hop :shock: :shock: :shock: :hihi: :hihi: .
