they probably don't deserve to be spoken about like I just did.

Can I get an Amen? Sure, the library is great, no fantastic...but you have to translate it to the technologies Philharmonik uses...Squids wrote:Actually, that was my idea and Sonic Reality did the sound programming for about a year and it was a LOT more than just throwing them into SampleTank I can assure you (I want my team of programmers to read your post and start growling at you after all that hard work they did). I agree that what makes Philharmonik so great is mostly what Miroslav had captured. But, the whole thing together (the way it was programmed this time around, the new playback technology from the enhanced ST engine it has etc.) is what makes it the product it is. If you really want to be informed about what you are talking about then I recommend checking out the videos that I did on www.philharmonik.com in the downloads section at the bottom. There's a lot more to it than putting his expensive library into SampleTank (although that alone I agree would have been valuable enough for many people).OMU wrote:The Miroslav Vitous is a gorgeous library.
IKM's only merit is actualy another marketing idea. They figured out that making a Miroslav version of the Smpletank with a touch of CSR would be a very good deal. And they were right.
And I say good for them.
Let's not forget, though, WHY this library is awsome; because of a crazy guy Miroslav. He has done a much greater effort in making this library then just grabbing the sounds and loading them into an already made piece of software.
Anyway, in my oppinion this is the best product IKM has released and I'm glad they did it.
So, if you can, (I can't) compare it to the original library...then see what's been added in the way of flexibility by using the various IK pieces.
To me, it's simply the most inspiring piece of composing software out there...and it's not just the beauty of the sounds...it's the way it's been presented.
The interface is so simple to use, you can do incredible things without even opening the manual...
Play what you feel and feel what you play.

This one isn't small but you might like it. It is definitely about high end studio tools.OMU wrote:I'm interested to see the small movies. I like small movies about music gear

Thanks for the link but I'm not interested in those kind of libraries, not drums libraries, that's sure. (well except for StormDrum maybe).
But thanks anyway.
It is you who's talking there and on the miroslav movies?

Yeah that's me in the Miroslav videos and the other one. If you like Storm Drum though then the Jerry Marotta library would probably be in the same territory. Jerry played with Peter Gabriel and a bunch of other people. He is an amazing drummer. He makes a cameo at the end of that long video on sonic state if you have the patience and interest.OMU wrote:Thanks for the link but I'm not interested in those kind of libraries, not drums libraries, that's sure. How do we know if the demos that are posted on the IK website were actually made with CSR ?...and not let’s say with one of those outboard boxes? The reason I’m asking this question is because I know somebody who used tones of different equipment to make a demo that was totally irrelevant to the product he was selling.
And here are some other questions:
1. I own Lexicon PCM91 (Lexicon Studio card) and I would like to know if CSR is an improvement over Lexicon unit?
2. How many presets come with CSR?
3. Do you plan to make any additional upgrades in the future?
4. I own EMU studio. Do I have to prove that I own it in order to qualify for the cross grade?
5. Was it tested with Samplitude?
6. How long would it take to ship this product into Canada?
7. Is PC VST version of T-Racks is as good as the one that is made for Protools?
Thanks
I'd love to hear some answers to your questions.
Anyone?...

How do we know if the demos that are posted on the IK website were actually made with CSR ?...and not let’s say with one of those outboard boxes?
Because it would be very wrong to do that and it would be a bad idea for a lot of reasons. No company I know would do that. I happen to know these demos are the real thing and I even supplied some of the sound recordings that were processed with it. I know the person who put together the demos. So believe me or don't it is your choice.

There are cases where there are other instruments in demos particularly when you are showing off sounds that need to be in context. For example, when we do demos of loops on www.esoundz.com there is sometimes a bass line, pad or additional instrumentation usually with a disclaimer that those elements are not part of the product. Usually, whenever there is some extra element involved whether it is mastering, extra processing or instrumentation there is proper mention of that. At least with anything I've been even remotely involved in.
And here are some other questions:
1. I own Lexicon PCM91 (Lexicon Studio card) and I would like to know if CSR is an improvement over Lexicon unit?
Great piece. I used to have a PCM90 in my set up. Is CSR an improvement? Maybe in some ways. The way it is set up where you can load just the algo that you are working with probably makes it lean on your CPU for host processing. I don't know what else except that it is host-based and can be used also on a laptop or multiple computers if that is what you have. Also the price is not much more to get it. However, if you already have a nice reverb like that then it could be a luxury. It all depends. But, you essentially already have a nice studio reverb so... that's up to you!
2. How many presets come with CSR?
Not sure. A lot.
3. Do you plan to make any additional upgrades in the future?
Do I? No.
Do the developers of it? Maybe. First the main product has to be out and then you never know.
4. I own EMU studio. Do I have to prove that I own it in order to qualify for the cross grade?
All you have to do is be registered for any of the OEM IK products that came with it. As long as you are registered then you can just go a store like www.esoundz.com or other IK dealers and order the crossgrade version. IK's system will automatically know that you are qualified and give you the registration for it. It saves you a lot of money.
5. Was it tested with Samplitude?
I didn't test it on that personally although I do have Samplitude. I guess I could try it some time and let you know. I will ask if it was tested on there though.
6. How long would it take to ship this product into Canada?
Once it is in stock it will ship out right away so typically less than one week from the US.
7. Is PC VST version of T-Racks is as good as the one that is made for Protools?
PC VST vs. RTAS? Yes, it is the same.

So, you say the CSR is on about the same level as the PCM90/91?Squids wrote: And here are some other questions:

In earlier posts, you compared the CSR direcetly or indirectly with the 480L. Here, I have to chime in. There are worlds between the PCM9x and the 480L...
PCM91 is very good, no doubt, but 480L or M6000 is High End.
I think there are already native reverbs out there in the PCM9x quality class, so what's the improvement with CSR?

This is hilarious! Clearly one of the most knowledgeable 'engineer types' on KvR, Kingston, who is posting information, constructive criticism and enthusiasm about sound all over the place- called a troll.Squids wrote:(to Kingston)
I am also a developer though and run not only one of the very first company forums on KVR but also one of the most popular. Meanwhile, who are you on KVR? A troll? It sure seems like it.
I think that kind of proves Kingston's point actually- you could only see him as a troll from the perspective of marketing interests, it can't really be cut up any other way.

Because they are plain horrible...
Or is it just the combination of poorly sampled intruments (did ya say flute?) and poor streaming...?
