I don't know why I even bother trying to teach that monkey. It's a well known fact the cranial capacity of a rhesus monkey is fairly low, and I doubt any monkey in the world would understand floating point math.

Would be quite the achievement in fact.

Rhesus monkeys are known to be very good independent learners. This individual just seems to lack that capacity and keeps biting the hand that feeds.

some even learn how to use a internet forum, and talk about floating point, although they mainly associate the upper part of a beer with this word.

Oh well, I tried.

Bye troll.

I've FINALLY finished reading through all the rambling...

First, what I HEAR IS totally SUBJECTIVE, so if ya'all are at all interested, go to http://digitalmusicdoctor.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=255 and read all the posts by Hitmaker.

Lots of scientific, yet subjective gobbledegook over there. Of particular interest is the Har-bal A/B comparisons on EQ and filtering anomolies in the other apps.

All I know is that TWICE I've had veteran Pro Tools guys over at my humble little hole-in-the-wall studio and they have said - 'THAT's SAMPLITUDE?' (or something close to that).

I just know what I like about Samplitude is that it SEEMS to sound UNCOLORED to my ears.

If you like the sounds of the other apps., then go for it.

Good for you to stress those words.

Now, do you know what placebo means?

Do most people even question the sound of any given DAW? I mean seriously, how high could that possibly be on anyone's priority list, given that even if differences occurred at the level we're discussing here (summing, averaging, mixing, general audio representation, etc) those differences would still be minuscule?

So most people would probably choose things like function, included effects and processors, interface, flexibility, and so on far in advance of "This DAW simply sounds better to be." Especially since what you make with that software is different every time, so the measurement of better sounding would always be changing, and that you mix with these applications to make the music sound good as you hear it, negating any barely perceptible differences by compensating for them from the outset. And if you don't believe me, than please provide us with a broken out list of every record made with Nuendo, Samplitude and Pro Tools.

Got two rar files here.
One containing 16 unique wavs of 32bit stereo white noise, and one containing a mixdown of these from Podium. Anyone care to recieve these and do the same thing in some other host? I did the mixdown in 32bit as well, all faders at zero.

I still maintain the GUI and interface alter your perceptions of sound. I sense it slightly when using different dark and bright skins within in the same host.

But then again, I believe Elvis is still around and just planning his comeback tour.

Wouldn't argue against that. I also make different kinds of music / sounds dependant on which app I am working in. The instant I tried out Live I started making progressive house. Which is a genre I quite dislike and never before has tried to produce.

Needless to say, I didn't keep on using Live.

Samplitude users : did they include aux send automation on v8 ? It's a pity this feature was not on V7!

Hi stefan, I could do that with Tracktion. Note that I am using 1.6 with its rendering "bug" so I am not expecting complete cancelation but I would be interrested in the magnitude of differences. BTW maybe we could agree on some level fader tweaking also (e.g -2dB for 2nd wav, -4db for 3rd and so on). I am mentioning this because some daw-feng-sui believers argue that differences appear only if faders are not at zero

I'll render a version with first noise at 0dB, second at -1dB, third at -2dB etc. PM me your e-mail add and I'll send you all the rar's.

Keep in mind that -2dB might not be exactly -2dB in any given host. This does not mean that the host sounds different, it just means that the hosts _volume readouts_ might be off. Due to optimizations or whatever.

PMing now ...

And, oh, what is that rendering bug?
