Congratulations ZioKiller this thing is now amazing.

Although the differences between real/milestone in the Tony last demo are <yet> obvious (in many instances probably because I have the sensation that he is playing the wx5 more like a sax than a trumpet) in many phrases milestone sounds very very close to a trumpet, much more than any other virtual instrument (hard or soft) that I have heard previously.

In fact that last beta is a BIG improvement over the previous. Really amazing. Thanks ZioKiller, you have really a first class thing in your hands.

Tony your trumpet playing is very good, great tone, great musicality and expression, I like it more than some others things that I have heard from you. That have increased greatly my interest to hear the music you do, you have some material that can be heard?

Its a faithful remake of Weather Reports "a remark you made" which ive been using as a mixing study and also a sax study cause id like to be able to evoke more of wayne shorter in my playing but its been frustrating cause like hes a genius and im not.

as for the name of the sax plugin id kinda like to see Mr.Brecker cause Michael Brecker is my favorite sax player and he also plays wind controller. Hes won like 8 grammys or so. Hes been thru a lot lately healthwise, bone marrow thing. might be a nice way to honor him.

Mr.Shorter would be another good name

One thing I gotta say about that review of arturia, and i saw this a lot when i did some reviews for electronic musician way back when, is theres not always appreciation for the technology and they dont always give proper credit for groundbreaking work, if the results arent as groundbreaking.

I just dont think theres very many people that "get" physical modeling and why its harder than throwing together a sampler/rompler and why theres benifits to it in the first place. i posted about this plugin in the cubase vst plugins forum and with the exception of a few its really gone over their heads, some saying they prefer a simple sample bank one from a ways back.

it just seems here, at least in this thread, that people understand we arent talking about sounding like a trumpet playing all the notes with the same tone and that static expressionless souless tongue-every-note-cause-i-cant-do-anything-else sampler approach.

anyways i asked em to try and do the stripper demo like i did

they like this plugin a lot there, and are as frustrated by samplers as i, but its all windcontroller players so that makes sense.

Thats really good!

This song is one of the best ever form one of the best formations ever, so its a very, very difficult job, but man you have done a very beautiful version of it.

Great tenor tone and musicality, very close to the original. But its more, all is really very good, every sound, playing, mix, solos... good musical sense in all the elements.

I did not know that your musical taste was so close to mine, this site is so full of electrónic music that I tends to think that there are not others musical sensitivities, in fact unfortunately this time is not the best for the jazz (the most creative real time music imo).

You a great musician, my congratulations.

Tony: how does the WX5 control the midi note on velocity?
I think it always sends velocity = 127 because I sill can't hear note transitions in your latest mp3.
In my lates beta I've added some kind of valve switching effect between different notes but it's based on the input velocity: the lower is the velocity, the louder and slower is the transition. So if you always have velocity = 127, you won't hear this effect and it just sounds like a synth.
Don't you have a midi file version of what you played? So I can test with different combinations.
Or I could add a velocity response control.
For the next beta I plan to add some more controls over the model and a brightness knob.

I've been following this thread since its start, and it's really great to see this plug evolve so fast. Cool thing to add controls to be able to choose between the different timbres in the next update too.

Tony : midi files would be great indeed for those of us who discover the joy and the world of trumpet, to get some ideas about how that level of expression is achieved.

Most of the demos posted so far are in the jazz spectrum... (and the maestros here really know their stuff!) could someone have a try at pop, mariachi or other styles ? (something more straight forward, in-your-face).

Hi Guido, I'm so very glad to hear about more controls including a brightness control included in the next beta! I still can't believe how fast you work. Recently, I've also pondered...wouldn't that be cool if you could mimick Half valving and possible assign that to a controler (like mod wheel)so you could do it on the fly. Hoping fingered portamento will be included as is on Yamaha VL, and Korg Oasys! Also, please bring back the original pitch bend as an option...Again this behaves as it should AND both Yamaha and Korg includes this on their PMs. This is great for doing rips up octaves (using the current style just sound silly going to the octave), etc....Anyway, once again a BIG THANK YOU for everything you have done! I hope that possible more brass, woodwinds will also be created by you...an all PM band! Still hoping for a Guido PM Clavinet too! Take care! PS. I am using a Kurzweil 2500 and Yamaha BC1 controler...with the pitch ribbon on the Kurzweil, I can also play quarter steps just like Don Ellis used to with his quarter tone 4 valve trumpet. I also run Milestone through Quadfromage's Ring Modulator and add delay to do some Don Ellis stuff...great fun!

Michael Brecker is one of my favorite sax players also... along with guys like Joshua Redman, Wayne Shorter, Charles Lloyd, Bob Shepard, etc.

every beta that i've tried has been solid in fl6. it's been getting better and better with each one. this is truly one amazing piece of work. thank you ziokiller and all those involved with their ideas and suggestions. i don't have a breath controller thing but here's a suggestion for fl users that might sound a little crazy. i haven't done it but i might. here it goes (and i'm not mocking):

use the fruity formula controller to connect the breath controller to the mouse. (formula is MouseY- meaning mouse's y axis will control movement...it has to be one of those conventional mice or an optical one though)

put the mouse on the floor. and with double sided tape or something and stick it to the bottom of your shoe or sock or whatever.

move your foot up and down to control the breath controller...

there you go... a poor man's breath controller.

i know it sounds ridiculous but i love this thing so much that i'm willing to try it.

Your version 6 is just great! I'm using the WX-5 with Sonar Home Studio and I love the sound. One question - Why does the attack on the first note of a phrase seem very pronounced while all following notes can be played legato? Maybe it's because a real trumpet does that, but it doesn't sound quite right to me. I would like to be able to play legato on the first note as well as on all following notes. I can't seem to find a combination of the settings to take that first "punch" away. Perhaps you intend to address this in future controls? Thanks for all your hard work. This has the potential of being a great trumpet sound. !!!

Turn up the minimum expression or program some expression events in first before playing. If the minimum expression is at zero it won't matter what you hit or how hard unless there's some expression events in there.
