Hey SR guys,
In addition to my passion for Esoundz/SR/Sampletank etc (you guys all rule - outstanding products, outstanding prices and customer service that cannot be bettered) I also worship at the alter of Spectrasonics (cut and paste all that nice stuff I just said about you guys!) so the fact that you have a new product that will load into Stylus RMX has me trembling with anticipation.
Can you give me more info, like well price for a start, intended release date and if possible some audio examples?
This looks wicked.
Gareth

all i can dig up for you right now is the press release from the main page.
http://www.sonicreality.com/news/RAW.php

it says Q1, no price, and the sonicstate video mostly dealt with Studio Profiles and Infinite Drums(i think)

I'd like to see R.A.W in a Melodyne format. The ultimate control for licks is in our hands with Melodyne, edit monophonic audio files just like if they were MIDI files.
IMHO this is the future for flexible work with licks.

Ok,,, so many new things I'm learning... How would R.A.W. need to be different to use in Melodyne??

Post

Unless I'm missing something, if you already own Melodyne, and R.A.W. has .wav or .aif files, you would already have what you need to use it in "Melodyne format." I think what Tele may be suggesting is something more along the lines of the "Liquid Instruments" series, where it would come with a stripped -down version of Melodyne Uno. Am I wrong?

So it's $249, less the price you pay for the Special Edition Group Buy.

And that's MSRP....street is usually a bit less and if you're an "esoundz junkie" like some of us :D , discounts get steeper according to your membership level. Let's just say it pays to be an esoundz junkie

R.A.W. is one MASSIVE interchangeable multi-style "Groove Construction Kit". It comes with 5,000 loops (no multisampled instruments, although you can play the slices) in REX, APPLELOOPS & WAVE (but also includes other extra slice info like ZGR, Live warp markets, slices/midi).

It could be the most diverse loop collection ever. It is a lot more diverse than the sounds that come with say Stylus RMX, Reason or LIVE, which we happen to think are great and the RAW set compliments those three quite nicely giving you more world, a lot more acoustic and definitely more instrument loops, effects, electronic material, groove elements... well, more of EVERYTHING since it is all different material done by a different company.

RAW pools from hundreds of sessions including many stereo versions and outtakes from over 40 upcoming Studio ProFile titles, classic Qup arts loop libraries plus a lot of new SR grooves, licks, phrases and remix elements that were made specifically for RAW. I mean, 5,000 is a lot!!! It is like a loop workstation in terms of its sound set. But, it is "universally compatible" with whatever loop tools you may like to use. In fact, because RAW is in raw universal formats it is actually the most widely compatible sound product we've ever made! It works with EVERYTHING! I mean, every DAW, every sampler, every loop tool...

It also comes with some software in the package (or will be an update addon) that is a very powerful loop management utility that... okay, fine I will let the cat out of the bag here. It also converts REX to Apple Loops or Acidized Wave or Live with warp markers and a few other things. Yes, it will work on any of your OTHER files too. You can also database your Rex2 files like you can AppleLoops (And also Wave). In fact, if you have any requests for the databasing you might as well tell me know. It will have BPM, Time Sig, Genre, User Keywords and some other attributes. So, not only do you get 5,000 loops but you can call them up instantly by different characterstics. There's even loop groups (loops that work together as construction kits) that we'll do and the user can make and then export it into a format the DAW or sampler can recognize.

It is a great way to keep track of your raw samples. Also a good system for managing sound fx, music cues and other things. Not bad for one package eh? Pretty good deal this one. We're hoping it is a big seller because of the low price otherwise this multi-style multi-DVD collection would cost a lot more... I guess we're going for something with mass appeal here and definitely a collection that has material usable for many, many styles of music from rock to funk to dance to hip hop to R&B to media scoring to pop to country to jazz to... you get the idea!

Well, what I mean is this. Of course you can import wav files into Melodyne. BUT the single notes of licks need to be assiged to their frequency, e.g. recognised. Melodyne does that automatically, but usually you'd need to do some corrections. To work with it rapidly one needs to have the analysis done, which means they'd come in Melodyne format. Of course if they already got the format, it makes sense to include the same engine that comes with the Liquid Instruments.
This mainly makes sense for melodic parts, less sense for drum loops, although Melodyne is a beast and you can work on drum loops with it ;)

 I get it now.

Squids, I like the databse idea. I don't suppose it will let you work in reverse (i.e., Appleloops to REX2). I'm assuming the Props wouldn't be keen on that as it would cut into sales of Recycle. Still, I like the ability to take REX and turn into Appleloops, as that would make my REX files that much more easy to use in Logic.

Boy, you guys really did introduce a bunch of amazing products this NAMM. I have to admit, my first thought about R.A.W. was that it wasn't likely something I'd be interested in. Now, I'm thinking it probably is.

Cheers,
Mark

The main thing about R.A.W. is that it is a massive, diverse library for a good deal. It is also a serious groove construction kit and remixing or overdubbing tool. The software utilities also make working with loops easier.

It doesn't write to REX2. It might some day though, you never know. However, it converts to Apple Loops and Acidized Waves, Live warp markers. We may add slices in various sampler formats and separate midi as well. This is something that will gain added value over time. Essentially the "RAW Expanders" are the Stereo Studio ProFile titles. There are over 30 of them coming out in the next 2-6 months! Prepare for a lot of stuff coming! We've been working hard.

It is interesting how it all works together in different ways. If you want more of this or that you can go in this direction or that direction (ie more toward playable kits, more toward a virtual instrument like Studiophonik, more toward loops like this... and you can pick and choose what you need for your set up!).
