Does anyone know where I can get samples of this type of minimal percussion that sound like the sounds in this demo clip I compiled?

yeah, sounds like the 'gobox' ensemble.
get reaktor and you can roll your own glitchy beats.

that's a cool site for "lightweight" sound files.

Thanks! :D

You could also try and get that sort of sound by messing with Vinyl and mda degrade on your loops.

And whatever else you can throw in to make some nice dirt.

I like that sound a lot too.

I love dusty glitch type sounds - I love to record them and no doubt lots of these will be comming in the future from SampleStream - there are some free samples available for distuction in music in the samplestream section

- also will take a note of what guys want - this will infulence what becomes available in the future, just post your requests in the forum somewhere, I will spot it :D

I just got through playing with my Doepfer for a while... I was coming up with all sorts of little clicky sounds. It really should be simple enough to make that sort of sound with just about any synth, just applying a quick envelope or lfo to the amplitude and filter...

Otherwise, just grab mic and record some little bits and pieces into your favorite sound editor. For that matter, I've done a lot of those kinds of sounds just using the pencil tool in Sound Forge.

Edit: I would have sent you some Doepfer sounds, but I'd just pulled all the cables out before going to KVR. Thats the way it goes with an analogue modular.
Incomplete list of my gear: 1/8" audio input jack.

If you're too lazy recording and mangling sounds, if you're using a drumsampler, maybe check out Synthetic Drums 1 + 2 (Native Instruments), Blister Pak (bigfishaudio) as well as abstrakt:konkrete - each library offers hundreds of glitchy, clicky drums and percussions, everything you'll need to create extraordinary "minimal" stuff beyong what some reaktor-grooveboxes offer. at least you can create your own maps with these sounds and feed some reaktor-ensembles with it to explore new worlds ;-)

Post

yes, i'd just like to confirm that Konkrete has entire kits that sound just like that! check the audio demos at

You could also take regular drum samples and run them through some of Jack Dark's Darkware glitch machines, which thankfully are back on-line. It would give you more control over the dynamics of the sound by allowing you to animate the different parameters.

I bought Mech and Psyops this week, I have been having a great time with them and highly recommend this bargain to everyone like DJSolo. They're really interesting micro-sounds and you can do a lot with so little. They're also cool because they don't spoon feed you with premade loops, kind of forces you to learn some fundementals of Glitch. Very affordable too of course.

Abstrakt Konkrete also looks cool, i'm going to check that out for sure. I actually ordered Cycling 74's Momentary Incursions but it seems to be taking forever to arive from Kelly's Music.

Does anyone know a good one-shot sampler that lets you automate the loop length? I know Battery2 does this i'm just wondering what else does. NN-XT lets you change the loop length but doesn't let you automate that movement. This might need it's own thread.

2Mr. Tunes, what are/is "Mech" and "Psyops" - might you have a link for more product infos?

Darkware-Plugz are amazingly interesting but for mangling drumsounds i would recommend plugins which are easier to handle where you can quickly get out results without try&error *g* - like xoxop's "gum" or some tweakbench-stuff or the worldfamous buffer-synth- and override. darkware-plugz are sometines 'un-calculatable' if you don't exactly know how they work and what the settings do.

have to check "Momentary Incursions", haven't heard anything about it yet, sounds interesting.

Mech and Psyops are the two packs by Shane Shanders at http://www.SampleSquad.com - I also bought the third pack on there ZTOIIX just yesterday. Mech and Psyops are $7.99 for both and ZTOIIX is $4.99 I believe.

What is Gum? do you have a link to it? There's so many to pick from on Tweakbench I never know which ones to go for(except for the obvious Peach and Toad synths).

Momentary Incursions is more sfx and weird manipulations of found sound. If you'd buy anything in that price range it seems that Abstrakt Konktrete is more relevant to the thread.

It's volume 4 here: http://cycling74.com/products/cycles
