Can anyone summarize the difference of MasterComp over Vintage Warmer from PSP? Why is MasterComp pricier and what does it do that I cannot get from VW?
Thanks. Any reviews of Mastercomp? Anything better?

Master Comp is much more transparent the VW - it has its own character. While it has a switchable limiter on the output, it is primarily a compressor with access given to the full set of standard compressor controls.

VW can be used as a compressor but you don't have full control of the parameters - I think it is more of a brickwall limiter and colouration plugin which can work as a compressor too.

If you are contemplating buying either I would recommend that you spend some time with the demos and do some listening because applying them in a mix is not going to be about whacking on a preset - it is going to involve listening and tweaking till you like what you hear.

I really liked Mastercomp, but I find that it is way too CPU hungry. I usually only have a 3-5% hit with VW. I have a dual processor Dell (using Live 5) with 3.2GHZ. The hit with some of the presets were up to 30%! Looks like I'll be sticking with VW, the MixPack, Soniformer (also a hungry one) and Neodynium for now until I find something else in their range.

Yeah mastercomp is a real cpu hog, I've got a 4.4 ghz and I can only open about 5 before I hit 100%
