yep i get the picture , :smack:
No, you dont. I'm not waiting for the UAD-1 version of the RE-201, because

(in order)

(a) I prefer native VSTs to DSP hardware, so I don't intend to get a UAD.
(b) I have a large collection of VST delays I'm perfectly happy with, from Dubstation to More Delay Machine to OhmBoyz, so Ive got plenty of options to choose from already, and I don't need another one that requires an expensive hardware dongle.
(c) I just acquired a real RE-201, so I dont need a simulation of it.

Kjaerhus Audio Classic Delay has tape, analog, and digital settings and it's free. The whole Kjaerhus Audio Classic series seems very good quality to me, especially for free!

Very true.

Also consider Analog Delay by SmartElectronix.

Alternately, maybe Voxengo's AnalogFlux Suite, specifically the delay in conjunction with the Tape simulation.

why, have you actually used a UAD?

My cubase sessions are much smoother since all my reverbs, EQ and compression are not done by the computer. Cubase focuses on a handful of VSTi's and audio tracks... I can run at lower buffer sizes with smoother performance.

Get Dubstation.

+1 for this: Analog Delay by SmartElectronix.

dubstation is not a tape delay emulation, but a bucket brigade emulation.

personally i think dubb box by arcdev to be the best emulation around - i've been able to identify the original roland space echo on albums, by only ever having known that plug-in.

anyone tried delayifier

Ok, I'm a little confused here, what is the difference between the vst emulation of a tape delay and the regular vst delay? Don't many have filters anyway to help in emulating the use of tape? And addded to that, what the hell is a bucket brigade?

If you have Db-audiowares Quantum fx there is a nice tape delay emulation in the user fx library that I made.
I have always been a fan of analog/tape/old school digital delays and have never been quite happy with whats on offer in the vst world. If you would like to listen to a demo mp3:

and click on the audio example link.
cheers,
