im always on the lookout for samples (of all kinds but mainly sound fx and synth samples)
i spoke with many people who say that you can find 'lots of quality samples online' although i have not been able to locate ANY (except for stupid cheesy sounds and mp3s)
is this just one of those things that people say? or is there a site dedicated to something like this?
any direction/advice is appreciated

no, it's not a legend. browse the forum, there are many links posted there. personally i love glooped.com, but those are guitar samples, not really the ones you're after i'm sorry.

One of the best for sound fx is http://freesound.iua.upf.edu/
It has a very good login system that lets you keep track of what you've downloaded so you can acknowledge the creator in your work. The sounds have Creative Commons licences.

No, it's not a myth. One thing you can do is to check this forum at least every 2nd day, because there is frequently links to some cool free shit posted. I've got lotsa neat stuff this way.
With a bit of digging, you can eventually find good free stuff in almost every category of sounds.
Happy hunting

Yes, Freesound is great.
I've been told my samples are strange, but
never cheesy.
Check the thread posted under
my name called "Royalty-free loops fx hits etc for download"
and there's 50 new samples there (perc loops, fx, hits, etc)
and hundreds of older ones.
Hope this helps. Take care. Andrew Duke
