back on topic - the best reverbs are all on those pesky dsp cards
the vss3 on poco being as flexible as anything and sounding beautiful - with the only weak point in it's arsenal being that it doesnt do plates as well as the UAD one
nothing else is close to these two - and i have tried 'em all

I believe every thread should devolve into character attacks and witch-burning. It really helps the discussion.

Do any of you chaps use hardware reverbs?
If you want a great, cheap hardware reverb then I'd advise you to look for a used Yamaha Rev500. Hugely unfashionable, but excellent sounding. With hosts being capable of using external hardware as if they were software, it seems worthy of consideration.
Plus hardware has cool flashing lights, and at nightime you can pretend that you're on the bridge of the Starship Enterprise with my hero Captain Picklecard or whatever.

I have no idea what to ask for it yet, first have to look around for going prices. Problem is that I don't want to go through the hassle of shipping it so preferably I sell it to someone here in Holland so he/she can pick it up.championrabbit wrote:How much?

The Rev500 invented ambient.
The Rev500 is to ambient what Deep Zeppelin is to rap/funk-metal.

Hey another rabbit.
The one thing that puts me of trying quick quack reverb is that is seems too focused on rooms, rooms of any shape. Surely a good reverb allows you to create not just a space, but any space imaginable not just rooms?

Hmmm, I don't know about the Rev500 but the SPX90 sucks ass for ambient music. It's way too bright and metallic sounding. My guess is that they probably have a similar character.championrabbit wrote:Bullshit.l33troll wrote:The Rev500 is bad for Ambient

The Rev500 invented ambient? Once again you show your ignorance by talking out of your ass. I suppose that it's not surprising for someone, who obviously has so such disdain for the genre, to make such an ignorant statement. If any reverb would even be capable of being referred to as having invented the ambient genre, then it would have to be Lexicon.
