Hah no I was just kidding cause as you remember back then it was a big rivalry and I of course owned a Genesis which had much better AI than SNES. I also loathed how nintendo thought they were special enough to have a fourth button, sadly a trend that continues to this day

And most importantly, I actually liked the sound of the Genesis more, even back then when I wasn't such a freak.

Oh yeah, I know, hehe. I remember the whole Genesis versus SNES thing. Mortal Kombat on Genesis ruled, but SNES had all the sweet RPGs like Final Fantasy Mystic Quest and Chrono Trigger.

The Genesis had a neat soundchip. It couldn't use PCM samples like the SNES, but it's cool to hear Phantasy Star's music through it. :D

Or maybe it could use samples. I don't remember well. I remember Phantasy Star's music sounding all FM-ish and techno-y though.

Uhhh yeah you can say that again. Paypal makes this a little too easy, I don't even have to take out my card.

Im THRILLED - in just one day I broke even... covered my hosting and domain reg costs. Everything else (synths & time) was my own anyway :hyper:

Thank you guys all so much - I was scared shitless doing this for the first time but you all have been so supportive - I feel all warm & fuzzy ( Fizzy? ) inside
Mr. Tunes wrote: Good stuff man. I like supporting KVR members here but it's also the stuff i'm constantly looking for. I would compete for the prize, but I know i'd get wooped by all you folks - nice track Ugo, that's what I'm talking about. Which patch in String Theory is that btw?
Thanks again Dude - I dont know tho... I was very impressed by the game demo reel on your site!! You should enter anyway - If you win, I could send you a couple of MB of 'Extras' that didn't make it on the collection!?!?!

My MidiNes went tits up so I'll have to get a new one for Vol.2 (good excuse for more toys)... Im scared enough of Nintendo - Im not gonna provoke 'em any further  Do enter the comp tho... I'd love to hear what you do with the sounds!!!

I was more a 'Double Dragon' / 'Ghosts n Goblins' man so it was the Sega all the way here  In all the consoles I've ever had I never got a Snes... they were just TOO cute!!!

SNES sounds, yeah, that would truly be great, especially Castlevania like ones. (But there are also three of those for the NES)

Looking forward to trying it out when time is merciful. :)

It could:

Sound SPU: Zilog Z80A running at 3.58 MHz

Yamaha YM2612 6 channel FM

and a 4 channel Texas Instruments PSG

So it could play samples, just with less fidelity than the snes. Remember streets of rage? Altered Beast?

synthesis rules over romplers anyways :D
