I'll be more than glad to do sax demos of various techniques.

let see theres straight, subtone, altissimo, growl and flutter tongue (those could be on the trumpet as well) and multiphonics. i do the thing where you hum too, im not sure how legit that is...sometimes when i finger the upper octave without the octave key it gets more multiphonics in the sounds but its subbtle, im not sure how legit that is either.

for trumpet i had lots of teachers but i taught myself sax mainly using stuff ive seen sax players ive worked with do. theres a definate fun in teaching yourself to play something despite all the obvious negatives.

multiphonics is, id guess, gonna be tough because its almost like fractal geometry it feeds upon itself to regenrate more and more detail and sound content. i rarely go thru a solo where i dont do the altissimo G and fade in the multiphonic, then slide dow to the F and then down into some midrange lick, its sad really but i just love that sound.

as fun as the tenor and alto would be id really like a bari sax, the real thing is just so big and a drag to carry if youre only gonna use it on 5 or 6 songs or less. I have an OK one on the vl70m that ive been editing together for about 2 years , all the ones ive found have been out of tune with slow attacks. the one i did is ok but itd be great to have a better one.

and of course the trombone, i think we are pretty close to the bone with milestone.

bass clarinet would be great, again its too big to carry and doesnt get used much but where it does its awesome, i like the clarinet on the vl70m but theres no good bass clarinets. the oboe on the vl70m is great, oboe would be good to do cause nobody likes playin double reeds in a show, theyre hard to mic and you gotta nurse them a lot.

i have a flugelhorn here too if we wanna get into that.

never played the yamahas, but ask me and a korg z1 is better than the real thing..

it's 10 bloody years old, the moss stuff is older than that.. and atm the best choice for a free sax imo is still a supercrap single waveguide model i use.. which is supercrap.

no offense to clavia, pitch stick is brilliant.. but their modular sax models.. and the arturia demos..

HELLO WORLD!!! KORG!!!!

is possible. now if people would stop stealing my hardware, at least i would be all set :p
you come and go, you come and go. amitabha neither a follower nor a leader be tagore "where roads are made i lose my way" where there is certainty, consideration is absent.

ok ... was watching this thread a while now ...
first of all i`d like to chime in that choir, saying "this is simply stunning" ... ;)
but: i checked out beta 4 and beta 6, and i have to say in my opinion the stepped pitchbending in beta 4 was way more realistic than the one of beta 6. no offend in any way, please apologize. other than that, i just would like to add some requests:
1.a detune parameter.
i wish this, because i (and maybe other users) think about being able to create stabs containing more instances of milestone. otherwise the stacking sounds too similar.
2.more assingnments to the parameters (enhancing the modmatrix, maybe?)
again, no offense meant at all, milestones is absolutely a great innovation.

Well I used what I was talking about : Velocity to CC#2, and some basic auto-generating envelope (problem is, it's not random but fixed).

That way it's more expressive than what I first could get, I hope didn't come out too bad. Tell me what you think.

The same lick over and over, with different "blowing". (the point being not having to do tiresome manual editing).
HERE IT IS

If it sounds like a clown playing in a circus, well it's because I've just started the practice of the instrument  .

It would be cool to integrate in Milestone a half-random expression envelope shaper, based on velocity information, for keyboards player. Looking at Tony's midi file, you see there's a common, recurent BC date shape. Add some randomness to that based on velocity values and that should start making some illusion (of course it still wouldn't compare to the use of a proper breath controller)

It wouldnt be hard (except for guido who is actually doing the work) to blow this thing up into quite the giant vsti. Old and new pitch bend methods could be selectable along with perhaps even some mapping and curve options. old and new trumpet models could be selectable (perhaps have different color trumpets on the gui). then to even get more crazy you could have both a keyboard display and a trumpet valve display so it shows the note you are playing on the keyboard and the correct valve postition on the valve display (teaching tool!), maybe at extremely loud extended passages you could have some mist come out of the bell and if you decide at some point to model spit buildup in the horn then you could animate it dripping from the slide.

and then anything above quadruple high C have blood and piece of lip spew out the bell. ack i went to far i always go too far.

Well I thought it was a simple yet useful option for some users... :scared:
So any opinion on the sample I posted Tony ? I mean expression-wise ? :|

 How do you induce the dizzy spell? :o
You know what I'm talking about don't ya? :hihi:

you could have the gui fade to black with little stars shooting around.

yah that sample shows the potential for implementing en enveloping thing, i bet guido is looking into that.

For those who need to know, I've put up MIDIcinal which converts incoming audio to a CC stream. It's here.

Hey, tuz, really fun. It's kind of Jackie Chan's drunken man technique transposed to trumpet. The rythm section adds to the overall coolness too.

Could you please post the midi with its controllers please ? Thanks.

heh. thanks. i did the midi. god i hate doing midis!!! :x if you have trouble listening to it (because i suck) just put it in your host... the notes/automation should be there at least. i just don't quite know how to convert to midi. hope it helps anyway.

jackie chan drunken man technique eh? more like tuz the high dude technique. :p

min expression a third to the right.
max expression almost at highest, but not quite.
no breath used.

High dude technique... ok, that works for me. Would explain why there's no breath.

Only the pitch bend shows up in the controllers, and your 2 Milestone BC tracks are empty. So no expression, no sound. Thanks for the effort though.

Your pitch bend range was set to 12 on Milestone ?

i didn't change the pb on milestone. i limit the pb to 1 on my host though. sorry about the mess. you can't even see the notes? i thought i put 4 midi instruments over there. trumpet, bass and 2 drum thingies.
