I have been playing with the demo of Liveslice and was wondering if I have missed if it is possible to export individual slices, or a track as a new wav file?

If it is not part of the program now, it would be good if this could be done.

you're not missing anything, it's not possible right now. ;)

has been requested before and is already on the list afaik.

Thanks R.A.W.
If these functions were added, it might just persuade me to buy it.
A great program it is though, but the exporting would really be what I would need.

I can confirm that wav export features are on my list - I'm aware that a lot of people are looking to use liveslice as a more conventional slicer.

Your are tempting me :)

Thanks for the feedback.

[FR] - ability to zoom the Slicer _vertically_
- to help precision slicing.
- maybe ALT+scroll-wheel, or a slider on the right-hand side of the window?

convention is more like a small pair of [+][-] buttons isn't it?

We also discussed, I remember, to change the height of the slicer to fill the whole gui - i could put a toggle-button called [edit] that would enter a specific wave-editor mode. Make the slice editor bigger and add cut / copy / paste / trim / normalize buttons to the toolbar. Wouldn't the zoom level then be good enough for precision slicing?

one note about my priorities though: I'll look at undo functionality first, then output assignemen pr. track in the arranger and perhaps rx2 import then slice-export and then wave editing.

Sounds good to me.

And the priorities sound even better. :)

Being a new user myself, and a hardware sampler junkie, I feel that the export feature would be one of my main considerations for purchase of the instrument (even having live slice as standalone application would be kool too). I see that on the website it says the midi features will be expanded in v1.4, could you elaborate in what ways? I would really like to be able to play chops with a keyboard or program chops in the live slices arrange window. I'd also like to see some other skin mods but that could come in time.

Overall I've been extremely impressed with this instrument and the support. The thing that struck me most about livelab was the list of features scheduled to be implemented in v1.4. This small gesturer confirmed for me that livelab has made a solid commitment to its users in written form, which is something I don't often see.

I would advise the gentleman who is still hesitant about purchasing the full version to do so now while it remains at its current price tag. Users who purchase the product contribute to its development.

I am seriously considering, and appreciate purchasing now helps the developer.
I just need to be certain it is what I really need because it will probably be my last purchase for some time.

Correction, I figured out how to play sounds with my keyboard, but have yet to program chops in the arrange window :P

Hey since we are on the topic of features, is there anyway to put a filter on individual chops like the pitch shift and probablity variables? I suppose once the separate output feature is implemented you can use whatever you want at that point. And what about having patches that can be saved and loaded? is that on the way too?

Bravo Ohm!

filter on individual chops
attach any filter you like as an insert effect, have the cutoff controlled by midi CC, connect the midi out of LiveSlice to the filter and you're set. I recommend the free "Bifilter" recently released - excellent sound. The reason why there's no built in filter is exacly that amazing free filters like bifilter exist.
patches that can be saved and loaded?
They can - all hosts support saving and loading fxp's and fxb's dont they? What host do you use?

You're right, I guess I have to read the manual a bit more carefully to get familiar with that option but I've been so excited by what I've done so far that I haven't bother paying attention to any of the logistics. I see your point though, there are a lot of filters out there so it seems justified that the current program should not get carried away with other frill fx when it could be sticking to what it does best. I'll give that section of the tutorial a good once over soon (I have not yet grasped an understanding of the signal routing for the record feature). However, my purpose in mentioning the filter was prompted by an idea I had to add a filter alternating every second hihat for variance... no fancy filter but just some way to cut highs or boost them. It sounds as though through the earlier method you described that it could be only achieved with automation in the host, unless I am wrong about that and there is some way to control the cutoff with a midi CC# triggered directly from live slice. Speaking of which, is there anyway to transfer the patterns created in the arranger into the host? I understand that there are keys that switch the loop pattern that plays but I really want to get in there and tweak my patterns to the max :)

Again you are right, boy don't I feel newbie, sorry :?

BTW my host is Live 5.

the midi1 and midi2 parameters are set in the same way as volume, pan and pitch. They can control your filter. The best would be to route the hihats to a seperate output channel, so the filter will not affect the rest of the loop.

Don't be sorry about asking these questions - LiveSlice is a bit different in these matters, and adding a filter does require some technical fiddling. On the other hand: having the freedom to choose the filter that sounds best for the task is a very very nice thing + you can add much more than just filters.

Unfortunately you can't export arrangements as midi - so there's no way to edit them outside LiveSlice. That feature will be added at some point in the future though.

I'm gonna give that a try once I can. Thanks for explaining that though. It was reassuring to hear this is already possible.

I'm extremely excited about what has already been discussed in terms of features but I’m very glad that you have this particular addition in mind for the future (live slice is great to jam on this but being able to recreate events would be an asset). When do you anticipate the release of next update with the “undo” and “copy” functions?
