Bug?

I just sent this mail to support but I was wondering whether I'm the only one experiencing this. So Homestudio2002 & SONAR users (I'm a HS2002 user btw), please try this out and respond:
To reproduce it, follow the next steps:
- Open a new Cakewalk Project with at least two audiotracks (the standard template is good enough)
- Add one of your plugins (Electron, TauPro) to the first track, change some setting or choose a preset different from the default
- Copy the effect of the first track to the second track (press ctrl and drag the effect, you probably know the deal)
- Check the plugin settings of both the first track as well as the second track. They should be exactly the same, since you've copied it.
- Now insert a new track right above the second track (select the second track and right click, choose Insert Audio track)
- Again, check the settings of the pluginsettings. You'll see that the second track has reverted to the default settings. The first track is still OK.
It only appears when you COPY the effect: if you just ADD the effect to the second track, and change the setting, insert a track, it all works fine. I've tried this out with a lot of other plugins to check whether it's a HS2002- or a Muon bug. They all worked fine...so it seems to be your plugins.
Hope it's all clear...

Thanks, got your mail about this too. Do you have Fxpansion's VST-DX adapter? if so, does this bug happen with "wrapped" VST plugins or just with our DXi plugins?

I've got a small update.
There are two other plugins (in my collection) that suffer from the same problem. These are WaveArts plugins, and Bill (from WA) is currently investigating it.
I'll keep you informed, maybe the solution is gonna be the same...

OK, I've tested it myself with a demo version of SONAR 2.2.
The guy who tested it for me is lying: it actually works fine in SONAR.
Sorry for the confusion...

Beginning to sound like a Home Studio bug to me, maybe...

You would say that, yes. But all other plugins I've tested work fine...it's just your plugins and the plugins by WaveArts. Perhaps the combination of HS2002 and the plugins...

It would be conclusive if wrapped VSTi's with Fxpansion's wrapper exhibited the same bug, because we're using the more or less the same identical code, licensed from Fxpansion.
If wrapped VSTis are working perfectly but the DXi Electron and Tau Pro are not as you've indicated I'm tempted to think this is a Home Studio bug especially if all is well in Sonar.

Then from what you've told me it sounds like a Home Studio bug and I can only suggest that you contact Cakewalk directly.

Standard replies from Cakewalk support
:
- Did you test it with the Sonar demo?
Yes, I did. Next question
- Did you test it with other plugins?
Yes, I did: the problem only occurs when using the Muon Dxi's (and WaveArts plugins). All of the other plugins I've tested (various DX & Dxi's like Dreamstation, Triangle II, Cakewalk FX3 Soundstage, Cakewalk Fxpad, Ohmboys, Ultrafunk Multiband compressor etc) work fine.
I have to agree with Cakewalk support: if some plugins work OK and some don't, it can't be a HS2002 problem.

Not true-the classic example's Reaktor,Sonar 2.2 and the Synth Rack. All the NI plugs use the same cwdxpx file, but you CAN'T load Reaktor into the Synth Rack because the project WILL crash on exiting.Pedullist wrote:I have to agree with Cakewalk support: if some plugins work OK and some don't, it can't be a HS2002 problem.

I know what you're trying to say ew, but it's gonna be impossible to convince Cakewalk. I know this from experience. They don't take HS2002 seriously in the first place. While SONAR gets updates & bugfixes all the time, 'little retarded brother' HS2002 is still the same version. It still contains bugs that got fixed in SONAR.
Perhaps my attitude is too professional for an amateur...perhaps I should buy SONAR and shut up. But I don't NEED SONAR, HS2002 is perfect for me. Except for bugs like these. But is that worth paying $199,-?

I did already mention that our DXi guy is looking at this.
If it is a bug, we'll find out soon enough, but all indications are, from the evidence that you have presented, that this is not a problem in the Electron or Tau Pro but in your host program. If our DXi guy finds a problem that can be fixed within the our DXi shell we'll be sure to let you know, otherwise we'll take it up with Cakewalk directly if we have to for you.
Kind regards
Dave
