unfortunately, it depends on the glue that was used. I have some speakers whose domes were welded using a epoxy; on those I had to stick a sewing needle into the dent to gently pull it out. A drop of airplane glue, with the excess quickly wiped off, sealed the resulting hole. (many kids, many dents)
While I don't have a decent camera these days (the disk drive died in the Mavica) I do have some pictures of the studio project while under construction (but not too many, as it was I doing the construction and it's really difficult to take pictures while doing form work etc.
Near the end of the project I clicked off a few

That's not the tweeter, It's just the dust cover for the woofer's voice coil.jackson wrote:Sound on Sound visited a home studio where this had happened. Off course nobody alive has been in the studio while I was out. The children or cleaning lady would never even think about being in there without supervision. This must have happened as a result of the high humidity or something.
Yeah, and nobody here can understand WTF I'm about. It still sound OK doesn't it?

I would just leave it as is or you can just try to pull it out with some strong double sided glue (tape or whatever they call it)
In any case this is nothing, so just make sure you don't create some real damage while fixing this.

If the speaker isnt too deep you can suck it out with your mouth.

lol yeah. Well when a small nephew pokes a cone in, and you dont want to get adhesive on your speaker, there are only so many alternatives. I thought of a vacuum, but it might be too strong and damage it. Doing it with my mouth would allow me to be as careful as possible and it worked perfectly. Some speakers are too deep to get your face into though.Reverse Engineer wrote:I wont even ask chase, i wont even ask.The Chase wrote:If the speaker isnt too deep you can suck it out with your mouth.

#2 shop vac, it'll work....Sepheritoh wrote:Searching all around, this seems to be the best summary of repair methods:jackson wrote:

1. Sticky tape
2. Vacuum cleaner
3. Paper clip & small hole
I am too hoorified to try #3, but the 1 & 2 didn't work. I'll get better sticky tapy tomorrow with stronger glue and see if it works. Generally it seems like the pro opinion is that it should not do anything to the sound.

I would just like to point out that tiny "studio", curtains, flooring, can, etc. are mine, but the comment robojam is referring to is not. I was wondering what I'd done for a moment there.Reverse Engineer wrote:Beats me... I love the giant can as a slide for his......whateverthefuck that big stringed thing is though.ross g wrote:robojam wrote:Well, I'm glad one of us thinks theres anything interesting about this.G&L_player wrote:Although space is a premium, I notice that you manage to fill it with a premuium "G&L" tele (ASAT)- OUTSTANDING!selfconstruct wrote:My "studio" (space is a premium) http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c306/ ... studio.jpg
Personally, I kept looking for something inspiring in this photo, but it always seemed to disappear into a small corner of some sort. This, was, in fact, the most I could get from the photo. Did I miss anything?
Pertaining to the background (i.e. curtains, etc...), there was absolutely nothing that would have me look at it by itself. Ergo, why would I wanna look at a metalic can on top?
If other people like this stuf and/or would like to see more, I wish them (and you) well. If there was a decent table; a very uncommon chair; something on the table that makes me want to look to it (without the can); some better flooring; a floor with great style; and/or something else in this offering, I might be able to digest it again. However, I believe that I saw it all within the first glimpse or so.
If you're not going to go for technique, go for style! However, I cannot (and will not) work through idle placings on any table just to see something displayed for the sake of someone's unbalanced ego.
FYI: everytime you ask someone to download; look; appraise; comment; these activities require some bandwidth. More precisely, you're asking other people to give up their resources (i.e. time/money) for YOUR sake.
PS. It needs far more iambic pentameter.
am i missing something?
Edit : Duh....i get it now.![]()
