Greetings. I'm looking for two features from Cubase SX, but in a less complex DAW or even as a standalone app and/or plugin. The features:
1. Dunno what it's called, but SX allows you to detect the tempo of a song by placing markers on beats in a wave, then once the tempo is determined, it marks all beats and you can tweak that part of the wave to optimize/correct/wreck the timing of the whole file.
2. With SX, you can put a wave into your project, and then take "clips" from it and re-use them rhythmically/repeatedly without actually duplicating any part of the wave. Like a virtual window onto a subset of the wave.
Does anyone know of an app/plugin that can do one or both of these things without all the extra heft SX brings?

phatmatic pro will slice up a wav, then you can drag a midi file with the groove into your sequencer and move the parts around as you like.
