If I were to buy this controller, how well would it work with FL Studio, and how would I go about setting it up?

Cheers,
Chase

As long as you have "Auto accept controller" highlighted in your Midi settings I doubt there would be much else involved other than plugging it in. Keystation doesn't have knobs/sliders does it?
Ideas are bulletproof... I am not.

Yes, that would do it. The 49e doesn't have knobs/sliders, so that'll make it even easier to set up. Its fully class compliant too, so it'll be a breeze with Windows as well. All up, it should be very straightforward to get it working happily wiht FL Studio :)

You might have to go into the MIDI settings, select it as an Input device, and hit "Enable", but thats all I had to do for my Oxygen8 (also by M-Audio).

But really, get something with a few knobs :D

Yep, I got a M-Audio KS 61, and it works like a charm, and was easy to "install" (only plug in the usbcable, hit the on-button and power up FLS)

the trouble with FL at least up to 5 when I last updated is that you can't just use the mod wheel as the synth patch designers desired, you have to set it up inside FL and then it ignores mod ranges set in the prest, bloody annoying.

Same in FL6 too. I think a good FR would be to allow passing through certain MIDI events directly through the synths (such as Mod Wheel).

I am pretty sure 6 does this too, and the sustain pedal still isnt right either. For that reason I dont really use FL for much midi play these days.

Hey, Chase -- Don't know if you're still in the market for the 49e, but they're on sale at CompUSA this week for $70 after a $35 rebate.

Thanks mate, but I got it for $99 a few days ago at guitar center

The mod wheel thing is annoying. For some synths (like toxic) it goes straight through to the Toxic Pitch wheel. For just about every other synth it uses the channel pitch, which is annoyingly defaulted to 2 semitones

I hope it works out well for you eventually.

Depending on how hard-core you are about money, I know that some places will retroactively do a price-match if you find the exact same item for less, within a week or so. May be worth a phone call. And there's always the return and rebuy thing. May or may not be worth the effort for you. Personally, the price difference is noticeable for me, but rebates are always a bit chancy....

My solution to the ModWheel problem is to create a midioutchannel, configure one of the knobs to be midi cc1, then use the midilearn-option where I rightclick on the same knob and press "link to controller" and then move the modwheel.
Then I use for example midi channel 1 on the midiout, and set up the synth to also have channel 1 on the midi-in.

To me, just having a synth respond like it should is WAY more important than all this piss ant features that people GOTTA have in FL studio.when you have access to all the CCs without having to go through and assign controllers, its way easier to be inspired... ah well, hope you like yer new controller chase
