Any possibility to shorten ST2 Loading-Time?

Starting ST2 as Plugin needs often enormous loáding times. OK I've got quite a big Library, (ST2,SS2, SC AcGuit, SC El Guitar) but to wait up to 10-15 min loading time can be unconvenient.
Does anyone have an Idea how to shorten those, perhaps by changing any System or Host settings? (i dont know if this is possible or makes sens)
Every reasonable hint is welcome.

I have the same problem and I tried it in cubase SE, Sonar 2.2, Ableton 4 lite, Tracktion 1 and Computer Muzys. It's always the same. Only the 2.1 standalone loads much faster.

In my opinion it takes way too much time to load even with rescan at startup turned off. Am I the only one who expects a plugin to start within 10 seconds?

So one can see, how stupid I am sometimes. I bought st2 two years ago.Hybernation wrote:Have you turned off the "rescan at startup" option in "prefs" ?
Thank you very much, Hybernation!

Another trick to speed this up might be to have your samples folder on a seperate drive other than your main drive. Your main drive has your hosts, the plugins folders but if you can put the samples on a seconadary drive that's fast(7200 internal say?), then it might help

All my reason refills are on an external harddisk, that is connected via USB 1.1. When I start Reason, I have to wait some minutes for the loading of samples. I play piano while I'm waiting. Sometimes I get a good tune, that I can instantly use in a song. That makes life easier.janka wrote:In my opinion it takes way too much time to load even with rescan at startup turned off. Without "relist" it's exactly 3 seconds for me in cubase SX.janka wrote:In my opinion it takes way too much time to load even with rescan at startup turned off. Am I the only one who expects a plugin to start within 10 seconds?

Well, it is databasing your entire sound set so it can call up the sounds quickly knowing where they are. The actual load-time is very fast! You should have seen what it was like on hardware samplers!
I have a few hardware samplers that it is literally 15 minutes or more to load a 30 meg instrument!
(I don't want to name which though)

I agree with Squids: Old hardware samplers (which also used to actually 'sample' stuff, but that's another thread) would take forever to load files AND their own OS. And they typically maxed out at 16 to 32 mb!Squids wrote:Well, it is databasing your entire sound set so it can call up the sounds quickly knowing where they are. The actual load-time is very fast! The current leading soft samplers also seem to take forever to load, but data is now measured in gigs, not megs. Even so, I found ST 2.1 an incredible improvement over 2.0. Loading the included soundset only takes a few seconds. However, when I threw the SS 2 library into the mix, I was back to waiting for startup, even when rescan was turned off. Taking the SS 2 library back out solved the problem, but now I wish I could keep a 2nd instance of ST 2.1 with just the SS2 library.
Right now, the only option is to hope that in the free time he has when he's not 'sampling the world,' Squids will push the new ST2.1 engine into an SS2 upgrade.
