I am having problems getting sound 101 out of Rhino. The midi port I am using is passing the data (checked with midiox) .I have checked both "channel 1" and "all channels" on the midi channel out dropdown list nothing on either.
I am using the direct sound driver in the set-up dialog . No way of telling if that is working from within Rhino , although it works ok with other soft synths. I have tried other (sound) drivers available on the system, no joy . Have I missed a "kill sound" dialog or something ?
or is there a "read me" with more details on the app. ?
My system is as follows

PC
AMD Athlon XP 1600+
512mb Ram
Soundblaster Live Value card, running APS drivers .
External midi keyboard sending on channel 1 only.
Edirol UM1s USB midi interface

The flexibility of the synth looks great and I heard great things about it on the Make Micromusic list , which is what prompted me to download it to test it out .

Would appreciate some help on this.

Thanks,

Alasdair

There's only patches in the first few slots of the first bank-otherwise you'll have to make your own. Go to the first bank and click on the first patch listed.Do you get any sound?(The title will light up).

Thanks for the quick reply.
Bingo !!
That seems to have fixed it, however the volume is still very low even with everything turned right up .Seems to have been some problem with Direct sound crashing as well. At the moment sound is only comming through the RH channel, I have checked the various balance conrols in the system, everything OK .
I will make my own patches but how do you turn on the oscillators, I have double clicked , and all sorts but no joy.

The *.tun files, are these created from within Scala ?

Sorry to be such a dumb-ass, but I am keen to use the software.

The sounds so far are fantastic.

thanks,

Logman,

re: volume, click on the "Bank" tab - there's a master volume control bottom left.

To turn an oscillator on, click on the tab ("OSC1", "OSC2" etc) and then mid-right on the screen is "Oscillator Shape". It'll read "OFF". Select one and you should be good to go - there should be a little green light appear on the tab for the Oscillator you just changed :)

Wowowow, thanks EW and Gargoyle for helping him !

Logman, to enable an oscillator, you should:
- go to osc tab
- select the waveform using the drop-down menu under 'oscillator shape'
- route the osc output using the matrix (the big blue area to the bottom): your osc can be routed to the "raw" output, or through the filters ("flt1"/"flt2"). If you route it through a filter, you'll also have to go to this particular filter page, and select a filter type, cutoff, and rez.

.tun files are the regular scala ones.
