Why no AU support in Tracktion?

I got the full version of Tracktion 2.0 with my purchsase of the Onyx 400 F, but I wanted to do some research on it before installing. I then noticed the one fatal flaw that could prevent my using it: Lack of AU support.

Why would they neglect to include this?

Anyway, I'm a Logic user and I wanted to try Tracktion because of it's supposed simplicity and ease-of-use. Also, I wanted to get away from Logic for a bit because I feel that its timing (when, let's say, programming drums) seems "off". I don't know how to explain it exactly, but I come from the MPC school of programming and Logic's timing seems to be less accurate. Has anyone else noticed this?

Same reason there's no DX-plugin support on Windows: because it's not a cross-platform plugin format. At least that's the reason I remember.

i dont know about other cross platform hosts, but i guss theres no AU support because its cross platform compaterble

ie, save a track on a pc & open it on a mac

Also, market share of Mac users using Tracktion is probably too small to justify it's addition. That's just speculation though.

Um, I'm a Mac user and I'm talking about Tracktion 2 on the Mac.

Um, I realize that. Just like the DirectX plugin format, AU is not cross-platform. So Jules didn't want to add it. What's confusing about that?

Maybe that'll change with Mackie in the future, but I doubt it.

Wasn't talking about you. That was addressed to the other cat who was quick to reply with an immaterial answer.

It's not immaterial, you just didn't understand.

I understood what he was saying: That AU is not a format available for Windows, so why concentrate on a one platform pony. It's just not the answer I needed. I apologize because my tone was pretty harsh but that's what I was trying to convey.

I'd definitely go for one of those, just so I could use Automat and Zoyd in T 8)
Coffee please, black, no sugar.

99% of worthwhile AUs are also available as VSTs, there's just no real reason for a host to support both.
This account is dormant, I am no longer employed by FXpansion / ROLI.

Find me on LinkedIn or elsewhere if you need to get in touch.

So, just out of curiousity, how is Beno's answer so much more acceptable than mine? He basically said it's not there cause it's not there, and it wasn't a high priority because of the cross-platform issue.

Not really sure who Beno is, but I guess I'll admit that I really didn't get what you were saying and responded too vehemently. I guess I was also expecting something more in the range of "compatibility issues" rather than, "we ain't got time for that, mehn". I'm owning up to the error in my ways and apologizing once again.

You were on point with your answer.
