CSR is here, but how does it sound?

Got my VERY reasonably-priced crossgrade CSR from eSounds today and to my ears it sounds FAN-FREAKING-TASTIC!!!!
I have only had time to explore some of the presets on the "plate" (on a vocal track) and the "room" (on a drum track). I had an existing "finished" mix where I was using Lexicon Pantheon on the vocals (three tracks) and R66 on the drums (six tracks). There is just a WORLD of difference in this mix now. And it's incredible how well this thing does on the CPU (compared it to "Perfect Space", which is good sounding but very heavy on the CPU).
I think I might as well just remove the other reverbs from my VST folder now!!
Now off to go listen to the Hall unit on some big piano samplelibs....

I think that having the individual plug-ins for Hall, Room, Plate etc also help with the CPU usage. It IS surprisingly lean on the CPU considering how rich the reverb is. I love it too. It is now my main reverb that I use. Although I still dig RoomVerb and AltiVerb as well. CSR is more like the hardware reverb I wish I had (but don't want to spend thousands of dollars on
). So, it is a nice core piece to have in your set up.
We're going to be doing some free presets for it exclusively for esoundz members. (of course being an esoundz member IS free itself so...). I think we'll concentrate on emulating some hardware pieces... maybe rent a 480L and an AMS and spend some time matching things up tweaking the deep parameters in it. See what we can come up with for ya! A little added bonus.
But, yeah, the ALL-GRADE deal on CSR where any IK user can get the upgrade is pretty sweet. I don't know how long it is going to last so any IK users thinking about getting it might want to grab it at the discounted crossgrade/allgrade/upgrade price (almost half off).

I'll tell you what. Just to make this place fun I will do a little promo just for you guys. Anyone who buys (or bought) CSR from www.esoundz.com can email sales@esoundz.com and get $10 in epointz as well. But, they have to say they heard about it in the SR forum on KVR (this is not even going to be announced officially). So, if you found this post and you wanted to get CSR then CONGRATULATIONS! Not only did you possibly just find out about someone loving it, some extras coming your way in presets plus the ALL-GRADE discount (which even covers going to pick up ANY IK product just to qualify... the cheapest one you can find? They ALL qualify you)... BUT, an extra $10 in credit on esoundz to use toward another purchase such as downloadable sounds or other sound/software products. We will honor that offer only until the end of this month. Good luck!
Enjoy!

Sometimes I think Squids could sell a refrigerator to an Eskimo.
Tis a decent reverb I'll grant, though I'm sorted for them here. I'm curious to see how the plate algos ported over from the Creamware P-100. Actually, I found I used the plates *far* more than any other algo on the machines. The Lex plate just had *that* sound.

I've just spent about two hours with it and I think it is absolutely superb...No...simply gorgeous. I'm using it with EWQLSO Pro XP and Philharmonik.
I've bought or tried about every other reverb mentioned on this board, and this is probably the only one I'll be using from here on out. The classic plate is beautiful.
Thanks IK (and Esoundz.)

It is really great to hear from the first CSR users. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. It is really great on orchestral material, vocals and drums in particular. It is also good for ambient effects and as a general reverb overall.SimSam wrote:I've just spent about two hours with it and I think it is absolutely superb...No...simply gorgeous. I agree the Plate is amazing. I do love my UAD plate but since it is only on one system and I use multiple systems it is nice to have the CSR plate (such as on my laptop).

I am drooling over CSR but, alas, the last SR group buy used up a chunk of my budget -- that's what I get for entering multiple times
-- plus my other software purchases.
If I start to hear more great reviews for CSR, then I might have to relent and purchase it, especially with the added incentives.
It would go along nicely with my Arts Acoustics Reverb, WaveArts MasterVerb and SpinAudio RoomVerb. Why do I keep thinking that I need more reverbs!?! Oh, yeah. That's because I DO need more reverbs

Hallo squids,
in the moment I have no more USB Ports free. Is it possible to use my Cubase SX 2.2 USB Dongle (Syncrosoft) also for the CSR Reverb ?

Oooooh. Those screenpics look real pretty.
Now that's the kind of GUI I like to see.
Not sure if I missed it somewhere, but is each reverb model its own plugin? If so, then nice touch.
EDIT: Ooops... Just re-read squid's post. I really did miss that information first time through.

That's really cool what you're writing Hybernation. Hopefully my CSR arrives before the weekend... Can't wait for the additional Lexi based presets, Squids, you're da man!

This is true. I actually have not purchased any dedicated reverb pluggins other than Ambience. I am quite wary of these things. CSR is probably well worth it but I'd rather save my bucks for Infinite Drums and Raw.I am drooling over CSR but, alas, the last SR group buy used up a chunk of my budget -- that's what I get for entering multiple times -- plus my other software purchases.

I can, you think I'll get in trouble though? It's a cover of John Lennon's "Imagine"...A3ntar wrote:Folks, it would be really nice if you could post sound samples. Hybernation, would it be possible to hear the same track with CSR and the Lexicon?
Thanks.
