Hi, i am trying for the past 3 days to record a drum pattern and melody i made on fruityloops onto cubase sx3. i have setup cubase with an audio channel and a midi channel, but whatever i tried the patterns i made are not being recorded although i can hear them play. the inpu/output on cubase has only stereo and not eg an insert from the midi. i am not sure if this is the right approach, but on protools i would follow this approach (eg. aux to audio for vst instruments).
can anyone share some light to this?
thanks
ps: i can record notes played on my keyboard/synth but not fruityloops patterns.

i'm looking to find out how this is done too. am i missing something (hopefully) or is it not possible in cubase to simply arm record an audio track and record audio from say a subtractor in reason?
i think that i may have been able to do this in sx 2, but being that my memory is...well...not so good, i can't remember *if* and *how* i did it.
in live you would just select an aoutput track in a dropdown menu, arm record the desired track and then hit record in transport and that was it. clearly, something as basic as this can be somehow done in cubase.
i'm asking this because having to export tracks is a pain in the ass and kinda messes my workflow
now someone please enlighten me.

Do you have Rewire set up correctly? Read up on how to do Rewire correctly and you'll get it.

You also added an audio track and set it's inputs for FL?

hi, to my knowledge and according to the manual, rewired channels are not record enabled and there is no way of recording that rewired channel. only hope is to record it as a vst instrument (fruityloops) but my first question remains the same. how can i record fruityloops as a vst when there is no option for input (besides stereo input default) on that input channel of the audio????
should i setup something on the routing of the signals? if so, how can i do this??
thanks in advance

basically i have a fruityloops session that containts a drum pattern (40 on the pattern view) and another part that i created using vanguard within FL. all are midi notes that trigger their sounds.
on cubase i want to record basically these two parts as they play, like record the sound of them, (maybe/hopefully each channel/instrument) on seperate audio tracks/channels on cubase. with this i will have the audio in a sequenced format in cubase. from there just build up other instrumetns and audio to final.
anyways, thats my task problem.
thanks

export the MIDI files, open your Cubase and open your drum machine and Vanguard, import MIDI files.Virus-Formation wrote:basically i have a fruityloops session that containts a drum pattern (40 on the pattern view) and another part that i created using vanguard within FL. all are midi notes that trigger their sounds.

but thats what i have done in a way, i load FL from cubase but i cant record its output on any channel, cant find how.
FL is the drum machine i use and i want to record this on 1 audio channel, while the second is vanguard. when i said before midi notes i meant the sequence buttons that fruity has.
dunno

you do not have to record VSTi/rewire channels to audio. you can import all midi tracks to audio tracks easily.Virus-Formation wrote:Hi, i am trying for the past 3 days to record a drum pattern and melody i made on fruityloops onto cubase sx3. i have setup cubase with an audio channel and a midi channel, but whatever i tried the patterns i made are not being recorded although i can hear them play. the inpu/output on cubase has only stereo and not eg an insert from the midi. i am not sure if this is the right approach, but on protools i would follow this approach (eg. aux to audio for vst instruments).

To record rewire or VST instruments in midi channels to audio channel, open FL from device menu and select output eg FL1 left+FL1 right, FL2 left+FL2 right. then open your FL project in FL. You can route different Fl channels to 16 different Outputs in 'FL Mixer'(outputs in FL only available when FL is rewired) eg Sytrus to FL1, Sampler to FL2,Slayer to FL3, Direct Wave to FL4 or so.
If everything is playing in Cubase correctly ,one channel per track,Then 'Locate Selection' to export audio Mixdown.
Open File>export audio Mixdown> in 'output' select FL channel and check 'import to'> 'pool' and 'audio track'.
A new track will be created in the project with audio file you imported.
you can import and create as many channels as you want.
