in cubase, when you want to zoom by clickind/dragging up/down in the timeline, you move the cursor to where you clicked. this is driving me mad. i know there are other ways of zooming but neither are as easy/precise i'd want them to be.

is there i way i can zoom like i explained without having the cursor move ? like you would in live for instance.

hope i made myself clear enough.

thanks for any help

Try holding down the shift-key mate...

You can then click anywhere in the timeline, and the cursor will not follow!

Neat!

Cheers.

There's also the magnify tool as well as the zooming bars on the bottom right-hand side of the arrange page. That's what I usually use.

yeah i know, but if i want to zoom to a precise point in the timeline i have to do some clicks, which is annoying. click and drag is just beautiful. i hope it also move the timeline left and right, when holding donw shift. that'd be sweet

What about setting up the zoom however you like it and then setting up marker points to move you to wherever you want. Another option is to bring up the overview pane right below the tools on the top and get to where you need to be from there. That's easy enough. Just grab the box and drag it.

Yeah... I end up using the zoom bars more often than the timeline... But mostly I use the dropdown menu, then zoom to locators. Nice feature that.

Plus a user can save "presets" as it were for that. I keep forgetting about that and just do everything manually.

One thing I've always liked about SX is that it gives you about a dozen options for a single function or job that's accessible from any number of places. It's great for a highly configurable workflow.

Er.... Standard keys for zooming in and out is "G" and "H". Works great. Seems much easier than using the timeline.

No, it does not... But the scroll-bar at the bottom of the arrange window works equally as well! And you don't even need to hold down the shift-key!
