@ bduffy - 7506s are legendary, i think everyone should have a pair. i still have mine, years later...

@ dxl - you think the V8s are brighter than the Events? i actually found Event 20/20s to be some of the brightest monitors i've heard, it was a big reason i stayed away from them during my monitor search. the V8s are bright, but with that deep, punchy bass, to my ears it sounds very nicely balanced. i have no complaints, except that extensive use at loud volume does hurt your ears. but isn't that true with all speakers at some point?

btw have you tried the Sony MDR-7508s? like the 06s, but man, that bass... :)

God, should I even mention that I miss my Audio Technica ATM-M40's? I'm forced to spend a lot of time on the cans at work, and for some reason mixes held up on the ATH's better than any others I'd tried (including $400 Seinheissers). I am slowly getting used to the Sonys, they are damn fine cans, just that the bass seems hyped to me; I'm always surprised when I take them off. But what should I expect mixing in headphones anyway? :P

Well, now that I am back on the road, I am going to be working on my trusty old Sony SRS Z510's so my DM20 will, by comparison, sound like some huge concert system when I get home.

Wow. what a thread, now I'm even more comfused!!! Was bout to buy a pair of 2031A Truths for $700 New Zealand, but a pair of EVENT TR6's have just came up for the same price! ARRRGG!!! Have to make a quick decision as its on Trademe! (Ebay)

Oh and by the way I use a $300 sony minisystem at the moment, and yes you really do have to look out for those sharp frequencies. Hence I monitor almost religously now with a frequency spectrum analizer by my side always. :D

My opinion: go for the 2031's. I too have to rely on a consumer bookshelf at home. We have Event monitors at work and I can't mix anything decent on them, especially in the low end dept. I think you'll miss the bass too much. I find the Truths much more compatible with my ear. They're less accurate, I'm sure, but there's something about those Truths...mixes sound hollow when done on them. I'd get the Truths and save up for something really kick-ass that gives you the full spectrum.

(this is totally biased and I would always recommend you actully listen to the monitors first!)

Yeah I'm slutted, as I said I can get the truths for $700, but I could of got some Mackie HR824's for $1400... Bummer! I had the money, just didn't know what I knwo a week later about monitors :D

Yeah I am finding my self slanting towards the 2031's... They sound like they might be a nice mix between the sound of a high end consumer minisystem and monitors. So it won't be a huge jump from my shitty stereo... But enough of one!

Hay I like the link "Get the Real News" very cool, I had linkds to DemocracyNow and Human Rights Watch on me site, but accidently deleted the HTML, gonna re write it I think!

Sounds like you're where I'm at, maybe share my hearing tastes too. I've been to the local music store twice for extensive listening tests, and both times I walked away LOVING the Mackies (and swearing to get them) and feeling that the Truths did a simply amazing job for their price range. (Did you know they're modelled after the Mackies?)

Great minds think alike! :D  I wasn't sure if anyone ever clicked on that! I don't want to be too obvious, but I would love people to get some information other than the mainstream media. Anyway, glad you liked it; WRH is a fantastic information springboard. Spread some truth (Behringer??)!

EDIT: Ooh! Checking out your tunes, System ERA...very nice! Anybody who mentions Freemasons in the first verse gets an A+ from me!

Hahah, yeah I did a bit of work in our Capital helping with setting up IndyMedia.org in our country, always been the advokit for non bios media. I should have guessed, your canadian. Thats a good thing, I find with most (not all) americans I speak to on-line seem to get really affended when I speak of the slanted media and fox news power houses. I mean the funny thing is that its an Aussie whos owning most of it these days, good old Rupid Murdock. (always think thats funny Murdock was the evil guy in McGiver)

Yeah Truths it is!?! Neverless I think I might have a chance to listen to both...

Cheers...

Hi this is my first post here!...I thought i'd chime in here.....I own the Behringer 2030a's.....Be aware that if you are producing music that has alot of LOW BASS NOTES that these behringers produce a god awful amount of PORT CHUFF!....It's like a Wind Storm...And it is very loud and annoying....Save up some money and buy some MACKIES!

Post

Yeah, the macies I want are $4000 New Zealand, the Behringers are $700? Its a matter of time, I kinda need to do semi good mixes at the mo... I guess my stereo is doing al right but thats mainly beacause I'm visually mixing using a spectrum more than any thing, when I don't, I go right off..

Yeah by all means, if you get a chance, listen to the Events; they are generally much more well-respected. Why, I don't know. :D I don't remember any wind-chuff from the Behringers, but I fully admit they're not the best. Just good value for money.

Murdoch...grumble...I'm going to pm you about this stuff, you've become way too interesing.. :D
