CSR is here, but how does it sound?

Just wanted to say that your song is VERY nice.
I love it. I can perfectly imagine Elvis presley singing in place of you. It sounds like it. Very nice.
I didnt like the slapback delay though. The reverb sounds nice too, but lexicon (i have it) is not that far away from this sound, i'd say.
Just my opinion....

Thanks for the tips.Squids wrote:YES!Frippertronix wrote:Does the crossgrade work with SE (bundled) IK products, or just retail ones?
Also, it is good for Frippertronix.(seriously, you can get some cool Fripp-like fx with it, especially the inverse.)
Any hint of how long this crossgrade offer will last?

I am not sure. I think it is only for the launch period so that's usually a month or two. The only thing I can tell you for sure is that as long as you buy it from esoundz while it says that any IK users qualify then we will stand by it and make sure you get it. (it is our responsibility to take that down when the promo is over... I will also try to find out more specific time if possible).Frippertronix wrote:Thanks for the tips.Squids wrote:YES!Frippertronix wrote:Does the crossgrade work with SE (bundled) IK products, or just retail ones?

Squids-
I'm really tempted to get this, but I have a couple of honest questions about it. The demos sound great, but all of the IK/SR products I own have great FX racks attached. Additionally, I'm looking forward to getting my copy of AT2 soon (assuming that it ships sometime this year
). I've been using AT1 on more than just my guitar, and it has pretty much replaced everything I used to use on vocal processing, etc.
I know that CSR is supposed to be a 'high end' reverb unit, but what specifically makes it better than the verbs, etc. that I'm currently squeezing out of my current IK arsenal?
Thanks

Most likely these are totally different algos that more closely emulate classic hardware and demand much more processing power than, say, the reverbs on Sample Tank.BERFAB wrote:Squids-

Great, but how do you indicate/prove that you have a registered IK product when you buy CSR?Squids wrote:I am not sure. I think it is only for the launch period so that's usually a month or two. Your registration for that other product automatically allows you to get the authorization for the crossgrade version. The whole upgrade/crossgrade options and the ease of how it works is something I think is great about IK. You can buy the upgrade/crossgrades from any IK dealer and as long as you are registered for the qualifying product you are upgrading or crossgrading from then you don't have to jump through any hoops proving anything (like finding receipts and all that). Pretty easy!Frippertronix wrote:Great, but how do you indicate/prove that you have a registered IK product when you buy CSR?Squids wrote:I am not sure. Ok, folks...this is probably NOT a very fair "comparison" in many ways, but here is what I did:
I listened to both through headphones. I can definitely hear the difference, the CSR seems to bring the individual instruments out better (especially the drums and bass), and makes the mix sound more spacious.
When O when will my copy show up?

How about it Squids? What's the official word on this?Frippertronix wrote:Most likely these are totally different algos that more closely emulate classic hardware and demand much more processing power than, say, the reverbs on Sample Tank.BERFAB wrote:Squids-

That's putting it mildy...hifiboom wrote:I want a DEMOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
I have some passing interest (I hate to admit it, but the AT2 delay is really souring me on IK) but I am not going to take a leap of faith again - certainly without a demo.
If there will a demo, will the crossgrade pricing offer have passed by then?

CSR is a much better reverb than the standard reverb inside SampleTank. That one is okay and convenient but not nearly the same quality of sound and depth in programmability that CSR has.BERFAB wrote:How about it Squids? More variety of spaces, richness, density, better resolution, depth... hard to describe in words. But, picture the difference between say an LXP-1 and a Lex 300. Something like that.
Because each plug-in has its own algo and it is programmed very well I believe this is contributing to it taking up very economical CPU for the high quality reverb that it is. This alone could make it a popular choice for producer/songwriter/engineers on the computer. It makes it a better "workhorse" reverb and then the convolution reverbs become more of the "specialy" reverbs if you have those (and makes sense because you should only use them and take up the CPU when it is really worth it).
But, you can get a much better sound if you turn the reverb OFF (especially as an insert) in ST and run it through CSR.
