You've found your voice, you can hear the human in the tone and interactions, that alone is awesomely fascinating.

The song is great also.

between all the plugins here its really sounds to me like the best of the CTI jazz albums of the 70s, i keep meaning to try your rhodes and now i will make it a real point to get on that, and the verb too. the rhodes really captures that vibe tho in this i just gotta say again, i dont think rhodes ever got recorded better than on those albums so it impressed me a lot.

looking forward to the chance to mess with this new sax.

thanks also sfa, that was nice.

gavriloP wrote:Thank you Guido, this plugin is unbelieveable! This thing rocks even without a breathcontroller. In fact as was discussed earlier I got that audio to midi fake bc working in Tracktion. And in realtime!

first I made a rack where I put slimslowslider autogate(to control audio input) and mdsp ENV2MIDI plugin that converted incoming audio to midi CC (which controlled the expression in Milestone). Then I just played some wild jazz :) from my MIDI keyboard while making funny noises to my Rode NT1 mic. Both audio and midi went into same Milestone track.

If someone is interested to host it I could upload a little improvised mp3 to show the sound (just fast test and even that gives chilling realism on occasion). When I learn to play this properly, it will surely sound very real!

This is something I dreamed while ago so sometimes dreams indeed seems to come true.

The funny thing is that in this song you can hear three Synthedit plugins: MrRay22, Glaceverb (great!) and my tenor sax model. :D

This is a very soft tenor sax sound full of breath noise, maybe too much

Tony, I'd like you to test it with your wx5...
OK I listened to this 20 times and..... IS THIS FOR REAL?
Are you sure it's not a real sax?
I mean I look for flaws, hints..... and the breath sound is so real :-o I don't know, if it's PM then it's just unbeliveble.

Just to give some feedback on where this could be improved:

I think the lower breathy notes are very realistic - however a synthlike tone appears in the higher notes at time. Perhaps the modelling of those higher notes needs to be tweaked a little - they need a bit more edge, a bit more chaos in them ;-)

A couple more suggestions:
- the bend range on the tenor is not very big so perhaps limit the range of bends and the tone changes over the course of a large bend. I think some of the larger bends on the high notes (eg @23 and 28 secs in) sound unrealistic and it is then that the synthetic origin of the tone becomes obvious to me.

Sax vibrato tends to be pretty slow - the vibratos in this piece were too high in frequency IMO (maybe twice to fast even) and the side key trills were a little too fast too.

- attacks were pretty soft by and large. You could have a bit more of an explosive attack on the openings of some of those phrases in the higher registers especially - it is part of expression. You have something that sounds like a pretty authentic breath attack on the lower notes in the coda but some of the strong phrases could do with more of an accented start I think - does the model allow for that?

I'm just picking up on this thread. Your instrument sounds marvelous.
I used to use the Ensoniq EPS sampler's Sax, which had a growl. I've simulated it in Hypersonic 2 using a 30 Hz LFO Sine wave and control it with the Mod Wheel. I don't hear an effect like this in your demo, though it certainly blows away my Hypersonic patch. I've just lately started to edit some patches for use with the breath controller but I have run into some roadblocks in Hypersonic 2's programming limitations. My questions are:
Can I get your wonderful VSTi's?
Is there a method of getting a growl on the sax?
Do you use velocity as a control for your patches? For instance, is there more breath noise on notes played at lower velocities?
My setup includes a DX7 and a BC3 as well as an M-Audio Keystation Pro 88. The DX7 has a limited velocity range (up to 110) and the Pro Control has no aftertouch, but lots of completely programmable sliders, buttons and wheels. There is also a footpedal for control if there are other expressive features available in your sax.

Great work! Congratulations.

Un-frickin-believable.

Still there is a bug in the Mr Ray and the Mr Tramp pianos. The sound doesn't start directly when play is pressed.
