+1 to what the guys said!

This is really sounding like a sax now, much better than the first demo and most virtual saxes I've heard so far. Just get rid of the "distorted synthwave" feeling that is still present here and there (maybe introduce some randomization to the oscs or whatever is the source of the wave) and you're there!
(when) can we expect a public beta?
Nice song by the way!

Dude, what buffer size are you running on your audio interface?jobromedia wrote:Still there is a bug in the Mr Ray and the Mr Tramp pianos. The sound doesn't start directly when play is pressed.

There is no bug.jobromedia wrote:Still there is a bug in the Mr Ray and the Mr Tramp pianos. The sound doesn't start directly when play is pressed.
It must be the latency of your setup.

What a beautiful sax tone!
Please don't touch that!
Of course the trills in the end are exagereted but who cares?
You are extremely gifted. Your instruments have life in them

i suspect this sax/trumpet model is based on a (a heavily adaptive waveshaped/filtered) impulse - resonance model, same for the mr. rays, using high-q filter settings for resonatorsAndrewSimon wrote:There is not bug.jobromedia wrote:Still there is a bug in the Mr Ray and the Mr Tramp pianos. thing with resonances is some modules don't really seem to 'initialise' well at sample zero in some hosts.. no fault, just a fact of life..
bro - my workaround is to move the transport back by a minute fraction before play/final print.. my host often doesn't play triggered samples on exactly 0.0.0.0 so i move it back to -0.0.0.1, adds a few blank samples but my first hihat triggers that way :p

Once again ZioKiller pushes the envelope way way WAY further out than any of us can imagine..
And, how bizzare, that somebody using a <quote> not real </quote> development tool can produce something that is going to be so universally considered as the best in its field..
I wonder where all the 'hand-coding is the only proper coding' guys are in this thread.. Not much sign of them, eh?
It just goes to prove that its not the tool thats important, its the hands of the artist that makes it produce something remarkable!!!
Top work Zio

You are probably right, but me, as a guitar player, I can't tell the difference.egbert wrote:Just to give some feedback on where this could be improved:AndrewSimon wrote: OK I listened to this 20 times and..... IS THIS FOR REAL?
Are you sure it's not a real sax?
I mean I look for flaws, hints..... and the breath sound is so realI don't know, if it's PM then it's just unbeliveble.
I think the lower breathy notes are very realistic - however a synthlike tone appears in the higher notes at time. Perhaps the modelling of those higher notes needs to be tweaked a little - they need a bit more edge, a bit more chaos in them
A couple more suggestions:
- the bend range on the tenor is not very big so perhaps limit the range of bends and the tone changes over the course of a large bend. I think some of the larger bends on the high notes (eg @23 and 28 secs in) sound unrealistic and it is then that the synthetic origin of the tone becomes obvious to me.
Sax vibrato tends to be pretty slow - the vibratos in this piece were too high in frequency IMO (maybe twice to fast even) and the side key trills were a little too fast too.
- attacks were pretty soft by and large. You could have a bit more of an explosive attack on the openings of some of those phrases in the higher registers especially - it is part of expression. You have something that sounds like a pretty authentic breath attack on the lower notes in the coda but some of the strong phrases could do with more of an accented start I think - does the model allow for that?

I think the whole debate has more to do with the fact it's too easy to release things made with SE, and beginners will keep churning out crap. That in turn generates certain attitudes towards the coding platform in question, as if it's "not real" or any good at all.ianweb123 wrote:I wonder where all the 'hand-coding is the only proper coding' guys are in this thread..
Like in a demographic society, the majority will sway the public opinion either way.
I've been tricked by these attitudes as well, and am astonished by guido accomplishing all this in SE.
and I really wish he would share some of the "lore".

Well definitly a very good sound. I'm working on a demo song with the trumpet. Should be up soon.
