HEY!!!! I was just going to start clearly archiving my growing collection of samples and I was wondering what people are doing about compression. I have come across this interesting compressor and I'd like to know if anyone has used it before.

What problems, if any, have people had with compressing/ decompressing music files if any? I read in a different forum a post that suggested altered samples with WinRAR. Is there anything to this?

7-zip is a good compressor, i like the right click stuff you can do
also, if you want, you can run it without installing if you can grab a zip file of the install

The bigger question, in my mind, is, "What to archive?" After all, once we compress these babies, making them unusable to the sampler, they're are on the bench, simply put. However, 7z is a most excellent utility capable of opening almost anything.Debutante wrote:HEY!!!! Personally, I'm all for grabbing a bigger disk (or two) and keeping everything active. Once I compress/store them- they're gone!
