for example if i wanted to remove all frquencies above 16khz from my mixes how would i go about it?
this came to mind after the "test your hearing thread".
one of my ears at least cannot hear well past 16khz so i would not be able to control what goes on above that. i'd rhaer have those sounds killed rather than any nasty surprises i can't hear going on in my songs.

low pass filter

you will lose an "airy" type quality if you chop everything at 16khz

thanks, excellent.
i've set it to 14 to be on the safe side.
i don't think my music will suffer from the lack of such high frequencies. i put it on the master of a few of my songs allready and i don't hear any difference in sound even going as low as 13.
i hope it's working!

my right ear goes up to 18.....and it can't notice any difference in my songs till under 15. either my mixes were all very dark to start with or those high frequencies are not essential. most vsti are bandlimited to 16 anyway to avoid aliasing .
so i guess doing music with only vstis there's not much risk to go above 16 anyway.

this little bugger is pretty handy for those of us willing to admit to a little "too much rock and roll"_starcraft_ wrote: i hope it's working!

Never mind. Thought you were being modest with the OP there.Space Boy wrote: I guess that one went right over your head
