Im a fl studio user and i wanna try cubase, and i ave this question.....does cubase have a sampler or something like the little sampler in FL ???, for drums etc etc or do you guys use a vsti to do that¿? i can't see myself using halion making a patch just to load a 200 kb sample, that's why i like the fl studio sampler...

Well.. You will have to use a vsti-sampler to load your samples, or you could use FL Studio as a vsti inside Cubase, and then load the samples in FL.

Personally I use a separate sampler plugin. However you could use the LM7 drum player (I think that's still included in SX3? It was in SX2 at least...). I'm fairly certain you can load external samples into LM7.

But the previous idea of loading FL into Cubase is probably the most sensible idea...you can use a sample player that you're familiar with, and still record into Cubase.

If you want to use a sampler plugin - I'd strongly recommend ShortCircuit Free (it's limited to 2 note polyphony and 2 instances at the same time)...but that gives you up to 4 concurrent drum hits, which usually is enough for me. It's a bloody good sampler, and one I will certainly buy sometime soon.

A sampler plugin is one of the main things missing in Cubase IMO. It kinda miffs me they don't include some cut down version of Halion etc with SX. Many other hosts consider sample players essential to an allround DAW host, and I agree with them.

There is a GM player in SX (or used to be) and you can load SF2s into that. Another tip, if you're using Soundfonts, is Crystal (Greenoak) and/or Sfz(RGC).

yeah, cubase needs a halion lite version or something.......but nothing defeats the fl sampler, fast and easy......
