does anybody know where to grab some (good quality)
'laugh' samples - like the ones used in sitcoms ?

help would be very appriciated :)

you can probably find them here...http://www.sonomic.com/
they arent free, but you can buy individual samples instead of whole cds and the price is often reasonable.

why not just record them from a sitcom? rent a dvd of Seinfeld series 1 or something :D

Not as easy as you think. You'll find that just when the laughetr reaches a climax then someone speaks over it and ruins the sample.

btw I once heard that canned laughter was real laughter played backwards - it sounded better backwards.

Can anyone confirm this or otherwise?

most sitcoms used to have the laughter added by a company that specializes in that.

I did do a comedic ballet using laughter samples from the various sound libraries, and building section mixes (alot of work... made me appreciate the company that did this work.)
you break down the sections as how it starts and ends:
giggles
chortles
screaming
and such
for entertaining porpoises only
