Any opinions on which one is better. The W1 suppose to be just like the L1 but on a small initial listen the TLS seemed to sound better.

They're both excellent.

i like tls :)

The pocket limiter is simply superb. I had a rock/pop mix here where it totally smoked even Elephant 2! I haven't been able to get that good results on hiphop nor dance material. It simply pumps a bit "wrong" somehow.

Cheers!

The Pocket Limiter is near perfectly transparent in my use of it (at the end of a guitar amp modeling/FX chain).

try clipping, a lot of the commercial stuff is clipped too. just try this: take your finished mix, apply all stuff that it needs(eq, compression etc), than simply clip it in your daw or whateva you're using for mastering(but you can't beat physics, everything has a limit, the more you push the gain the more distortion you'll get). save your mix as a 24bit-file. load it again and lower the fader a lil bit, like -0.3db, so you have a ceiling(you do the same on limiters). on some music this sounds better than any limiter i know of, it won't f**k up your drums and it won't mush up your bass.

So true but clipping in a 32bit Host can be a bit weird. Best clipping that I have found is Elephant 2. It has a clip mode but still allows you to oversample. This provides different "character" of clipping. I usually end up using x2 or x3 oversampling a bit depending on the input source.

Cheers!

Am I the onlyone who uses the Tls Pocket Limiter as a soft distortion?

Also I'll mention the Kjaerhus Limiter

NOt exactly a limiter, but For Hip Hop, Betabugs Simple Squeeze is GREAT on beats.

damn.
for whatever reason, TL's has been crashing old projects for me. I like it for soft distortion/saturation, too.
