Hi,
Lately I've felt a lot more comfortable just using loops, and then modifying them a bit with a little beatrepeat and some FX. It just helps to get a bit more groove.
I've mostly made my own beats till now before so I wonder; do people and bands sue if you use their drumloops for your own tune? And does it matter wether you just have a download or if you go commercial?

Technically, if you don't have a license to use someone else's copyrighted sounds (from whatever source), you could run into legal trouble if you do. If you are using loops without permission on songs that will never be released (i.e. just screwing around in your basement), don't worry about it.Jesse Gorter wrote:Hi,

If you are releasing material to the public by any means (i.e. commercial CD, or download, etc.--even if you don't charge for the download) then you will need to have clearance. Most loops that you purchase come license free, meaning that you can use them freely in your own compositions without having to pay a royalty. But check the individual documentation of the material just to be sure.
Hope that helps.
