FR - Mad idea about a midi (sampler)

There's a program called Building Blocks by AuReality
http://www.midiworld.org/~aureality/pro ... locks.html
which is to MIDI what eXT is to VSTs. It can do magic with MIDI manipulation using modular components but unfortunately its development has stopped since 2001.
eXT would be the ultimate musical tool if MIDI tools like B. Blocks has could be incorporated in an independent section that would output to VSTs directly inside eXT - like the sequencer or the sampler component.
I use B. Blocks some times and route its MIDI outs to virtual ports like MidiYoke so I can then route them to VSTs but I constantly come up against its limitations in terms of UI, timing irregularities, program bugs, etc.
But for anyone wanting to see what can be done with MIDI this program is one of the best I've seen.

Wow! some stuff on that site is amazing! e.g AIM! Inspiration has struck. Too bad I haven't finished a few of my larger ongoing projects.
BTW I'm experimenting with the early stages of a midi editor to support user written scripts. If it ever becomes a reality I'll be sure to steal the playback triggering ideas in here.

That is definitely eye opening.Nax wrote:There's a program called Building Blocks by AuReality
Virtual control surfaces sound like a good idea too.
Q to Soma. What do you use to develop your midi plugs?
I think I am going to do another mock-up.
I also have an idea about a drum mapper that translates drum patterns from one sampler or drum machine to another.

ERA's arp can map arp pattern to different key ranges. Arps cannot be mapped by velocity (without some modular trickery at least), but can be vel. sensitive.
More sophisticated routing (vel. mapping, speed by key etc) can be achieved with some tinkering in eXT and a few MIDI utility plugin, like ndc MIDI plugins.

How 'bout pure data (PD) with PD-VST you can even use your patches directly in Energy XT.
Also: it should be possible to set it up so that different midi key ranges control parameters of a transposition midi plugin - then simply add that plugin to the output of a sequencer running in Live Mode and your'e set.
There's a pretty flexible midi re-mapper advertized in the "more midi plugins" thread in this forum.

This Gomp-Thing looks interesting.
BTW to give something:
A Midi-VST-Plugin, Noteremapper,Scalequantizer, adjustable velocity dependent through, made with Synthedit, no external modules, source included. I use it post Chord, Arp.

Charlie-
I've been using SE but I am starting to program from scratch (Probably eventually use Delphi but right now drafting in VBS

I would really like this project to become reality...nice pics charlie...it gives a very good vision of what it would be...
ive build some things with synth edit but i think creating all this would ^be beyond my skills...
soma is the man for that...

I'd love something like a modular MIDI processor. Or just a single module with a simple scripting language.

I've been thinking about doing a VST plugin that can process midi in python - IMO the most suited scripting language for midi processing. Not much time at the moment though.
Synthmaker has a code component - c++ like syntax.
energy xt / bidule are modular midi processors btw. of you have good midi vst plugins.

or you could load energyXT in AnalogBox as it hosts VSTi
