Slightly OT: not really a feature request. I advrtised Tablet 2 MIDI in the forum for the Hartmann Neuron, where someone had suggested the jazzmutant LEMUR the "perfect companion":

I have been eying the LEMUR for a while - And in some respects you can consider Tablet2Midi a poor mans alternative to multi-touch surfaces.

The only thing a tablet can do that a multi-touch surface can't is stuff like pen rotation, tilt and angle - in total each pen (you can use up to two pens) can control 6 parameters.

For some uses this can certainly make up for the obvious lack of visual feedback of the parameter values and the 2 pen limitation.

Hey Jacob, I can't say how much I appreciate what you're doing. In fact I was only looking for a way to produce DIScontinous controllers. If the trackpad on my book would do so, I never would have come across your project. If I was into programming I'd love to write "trackpad 2 MIDI". Upto now I don't even have a tablet, but you give me the reason to get me one.
Your programm is a fine way to skip this first and most expensive generation of multi-touch-screens.
Seing HOW you respond to any suggestions here, makes me go WOW. If programmers at Wacom- who should buy your programm, too- and elsewhere would react respectively, world for us tweakheads would be better.

Thanks Tom - it's nice to hear my efforts are appreciated. LiveLab.dk is a pretty idealistic project - I'm definately not in it for the money, so cheerful remarks from fellow musicians and tweakheads are always welcome

The trackpad 2 midi is a nice idea - I'm not sure if it's possible, but if it is, I'm on it

I don't have time to start a new project before in a year or so though. At that time I'll own a mac though so trackpad 2 midi will very likely be cross platform (tablet 2 midi is windows only, and very likely to stay windows only I'm afraid) - I assume you are on a mac when you write trackpad right? PC users usually use the term touchpad.

Do you know the iGesture Pad ?

It is a big USB touchpad that can capture the positions and the movements of several fingers at once.

I have one and use it from time to time on PC and Mac, but actually it work only in relative mode, so it is very limited for a controller usage.

Somebody that is a programmer could certainlt find a way to track each finger simultaneously in absolute mode => a Lemur for poor people !

It is nor more sold in shops, but it is possible to buy it on eBay or others on Internet.

In 0.72 the Cursor starts jumping around, worse than miditab. x,y and speed midiout reflect this. On W2K prof. P4.

No, it's the same. I thought I had deleted 0.71, but found it now.
Tablet is Wacom, Graphire 3, Screen resolution 1280*800.

I've got a small uc-logic tablet i picked up cheap for web design/flash design duites, but i could have a lot of fun using it as a controller for DJing with traktor!!

I'm gonna download the beta and try this when i get the time.

Generally though - this is an excellent concept and i hope it goes places.

should be as there exists an external for PD that was written for the Toshiba trackpad

You're more than welcome ohm. Good to encourage a developer who is doing something original and bloody clever. I am in fact shopping on the net for a large tablet now, my tiny A6 one was an impulse buy, and depsite being useful its just not big enough for useful graphics work, and certainly not big enough to build super-mega midi control surfaces with!

By the way i've been peeking at liveslice on your site too lately, looks like another interesting and original tool. You may well have a new customer/follower here!!
