I tried everything, adding lots of effects to the synths, than master the tracks with multiband compressors etc, etc but the music still don´t sound real, but ABL sounds always like in a released song, even if i play it dry and don´t master it at all.xoxos wrote:scuse me for being presumptuous, but i'm going to guess you arrived at electornic music in digital..
guy 'kilo' at dancetech.com says that if he taught a school for this, the first year you would only make tracks with mixing and eq.. no effects.
digital synths can be very 'pure,' which was a great ocntrast back in the old days, but if you come up in it it can sound boring, plain - learn to make parts work together, then learn to add effects..
..or do it the other way aorund, really.. point is, break it down into secitons.
if your music doesn't sing, don't blame the instrument. old hands will generally attest 'very true.'
all this new digital stuf kicks ass. respect the art.. take time to discover subtleties. don't expect it to spring to life under a new hand..
I'am dissapointed

Your audio hardware is probably broken in some subtle way that makes the samplerate unstable. Possibly it has something to with cpu load too if you only notice it when many synths are playing.Baniev wrote:virtual synths ALWAYS deviate from the note they should play
Or, you have a pitch lfo going
On stable hardware, it's alot easier to make a stable oscillator than a randomly deviating one.

probably because you don't know what you're doing. You canot expect to get it right overnight. Learn to use the tools at your disposal.Baniev wrote:damn why the TB303´s sound well and all other synths sound like crap?

Might be, but One Ping Only comes quite close as well!PaulSC wrote:Yes, that's correct, you've already found the two virtual instruments that sound real.

It isn´t wrong anything, the computer is very fast and everything else is working correctly, the problem are aktually the synths.Rock Hardbuns wrote:Your audio hardware is probably broken in some subtle way that makes the samplerate unstable. ahh man.. i feel u man...and to me it's still quite true if not using sample based softsynths.
still too few sound as good as hardware for synth sounds,
however, for real insturments, software sampleplayer is the king tho!
huh...most software VAs just dont have the deepth and HIs that you can get from most other hardware VAs sues, most software VAs are not too good for main sounds in a non busy mix, but very busy mix can sit quite nicly because most SoftVA's wont take up too much space
you can get good sounds with huge sample based sample player but many are not sync to BPM with is a big no no for electronica, and ROM based sample players, currently only feel that Hypersonic2 is fine but still lacking in real insturment/bass sounds.

Do not be sad. You have only a small investment compaired to what hardware would cost and software does more. Be happy that is doesn't breakdown or need maintaince. It's good stuff it's just not hardware.
It's kinda like complaining that Cubase doesn't sound like a Neve. One cost $600 the other cost $500,000. You can do more with Cubase but it's unrealistic to think it would sound like the Neve. You have to be realistic about this stuff. You don't get $20,000 dollars worth of synthesizers for $300 bucks.
To date there is no software synth that has the basic sound quality of my $300 Moog Prodigy much less the OBs or Prophet and it's not getting a lot better very fast. But everybody can play. Not everyone gets to own a $20,000 Buchla or would want to for that matter.

Truly the aspect of "sounds like the real thing" is entirely subjective.
More often than not, "sounds like the real thing" becomes more prolific when in the mix, versus when solo'd. My experience...
I find I fancy the nuances of purely binary synths for the same reason I fancy the nuances of purely analog synths... they are esoteric thereof, and appreciable therefore!
(I want a new duck.)

I hope the developers of ABL and phoscyon will develop other emulations of softsynths, i must try ABL Pro, maybe that´s what i´am loking for.
