Cubase is at least 5% better if you use silver CDRs. I heard it's not optimised for gold CDRs...however if you use an expensive heavy weight to keep the gold CDRs flat on the tray (Seagate HDs are recommended) then you can gain 2.5-3%.

Cubase uses 32bit floating point...see, the reason Cubase is 37.5% better than crap like Logic is because it's floating point is lighter than Logic's. Logic's floating point can barely keep itself half out of the disk fluid. They use cardboard whereas Steinberg use specially formulated laevo-polystyrene. It's scientific, you see...Brownian motion and all of that...if that chap hadn't shouted Eureka! in his bath, the world would be dominated by Logic.

Anyway, Cubase is better just because it is. :P

for a good change I would've called this thread "Why I hate and like cubase at the same time".

There's just too many things that pisses me off about it (non-existant steinberg bug fixing support being on of them).

But on the other hand I can't do without it either (ie. the awesome mixdown possibilities, some fast editing tools and the general "it just works" mentality of it).

...as an ex logic user.

Whaddya think?
cubase is excellent. even with it's problems (and they all have those), i love it. and as much as steinberg takes a beating here, lets remember where VST started. much respect.

Plus Cubase sounds at least 10-20% better than all the other hosts - this has not only been proven by many highly scientific studies but i've come to the same result doing objective listening tests in my listening environment (which has been specifically optimized for host comparisons!).
Follow me, for I have seen the light!

I use Cubase. Love it. Never had any poblems with it. And i like GUI very much. To be honest my workflow is a bit faster in FL (another fantastic host) buth then i always can finish project inside Cubase. Most important thing for me is that everything is supported one way or another(beside AU 8)).

So i love Cubase

I miss that old demo tune from a few years back that came with my first copy of Cubasis. It had those female voices on top of the mix singing, "Cuuuuuuu-baaaaaaase!"
