Hi Guido, just checking to see how things are going? Any ETA on a sax beta, or a new milestone beta? Don't mind me , just anxiously waiting...Take care!

Just to run down my list of desire,
valves/keys should have the same speed, not be slower and faster velocity, or at least make it optional. they really do teach you to snap your valves fast even if playing soft and slow.
unless youre into modeling half valving and thats another story....
i still think itd be cool to have trumpet and sax displays that show the correct fingering for the note being played, you could do that using a fingering chart. I wouldve loved to have something like that years ago.

It's probably a lot more work for poor Guido to include half valving. Both Yamaha's model and Korg's Oasys model do not include it, HOWEVER, I think it would set Guido's creation apart from not just being a great PM, but rather the one that even the big boys (Yamaha and Korg) will be talking about. This would give it a whole new dimention of "life". PM is just not about tone, but rather playability, and expressiveness. These creations of Guido's should scare the sample developers to death...let alone the other PM VSTi developers. Thanks Again Guido! We're all looking forward to your magnificent creations! Just let us all help beta test with our breath controllers...all waiting with baited breath.

Well I don't have a breathcontrol, but I'd also like to test the plugin. As I said, a beat is waiting for the sax beta. Well I took the sax demo song in my mp3 player with me to town today and compared it with Yamaha Tyros2. f**king hell Guido has allmost the same timbre in the sax as the Yamaha Tyros2. And that synth costs €4000!

One thing that would really make the trumpet so much better is if it had 4 or 6 voices polyphony. I dunno if it is possible, or if it crashes the cpu to hard, but please if you can add it, the do it. So I don't have to load 6 instances of it when I want to lay down chords. There are other demos of the sax as well. But to be honnest: I wanted a Tyros2 for the sax and the trumpet. With Miles'Tone and this damn sax plugin I'm not that sure any more on the Tyros2.

That sax demo had inhales at the start of each new phrase, and while it sounds like a cheesy idea, it actually added to the realism of the playing to my ears.

The inhales is accessed via a foot pedal. Just stomp it and it inhales ...

The inhale sound is a little too long, IMO. The guitars and basses sound really good, but the others are only decent. Everything has a too pristine "canned" sound to it characteristic of a GM soundset. Not bad, but not especially good either.

This is like adding hum to a guitar track because most guitar amps hum.
But isn't the Yamaha sample based?
If so can we even compare it to Zio's sax?

It is sample based, with the various problems of samples. Crossfade issues, lack of dynamic interaction, and the static quality you just cannot escape with samples, especially compared to physical models.
Guido's sax is the future. Expressive and integrated and doesn't take lots of disk space, loading time etc. As such models mature they will become both more accurate as emulations, and more varied beyond just emulating existing instruments.

Why does almost every sound example from Yamaha have that typical "cheesy-demo" feel?
Check the totally beautiful saxophone mp3 a few pages before....Now compare it to the yamaha demo. Man, its so cheesy, so kids-party, so ...you name it.
Maybe they should offer elevators to go along.
They could do better than those demos, I'm sure they could...

Can just offer my personal comments here. I had a Yamaha PSR9000, a damn nice synth to say the least. But it had the same problem with the demos sounding to partyish. It's like having a nice facad.
