Thats right, Endangered Rhythms volume 2 is finished at last and will soon be available for download in rex2 format.
Time sigs include: 11/8, 7/8, 15/8, 5/8, 6/8, 3/4, and a couple folders in 4/4 for good measure, at tempi ranging from 80 bpm to 180 bpm. This collection is a much better value than volume 1, as it has many more loops, with no 'combination' loops included (In other words all of the loops are either straight stereo drums or straight mono bass).
The drums from volume 1 will also be made available in rex2 format. And there will be numerous cross-grade deals TBA by John in the near future.
Demos will be up soon, but in the meantime you can hear a short taster here.

All I can say is I'm glad you're doing it. I will be on the lookout for Vol. 1 as Rex files and can't wait to hear some demos of Vol. 2!herodotus wrote:

If every KVR member wrote one review a year we'd have 1340 reviews each day!

I was actually playing with some of these in the limited version of Reason that comes with ReCycle and I can see the appeal of the whole concept.Hewitt Huntwork wrote: All I can say is I'm glad you're doing it. The bass loops especially are all kinds of fun because you can alter their pitch content however you want, without changing the rhythm at all.
You can make literally dozens of bass lines out of one loop.

Both volumes in both formats, Acid and rex2 should go on sale this weekend. Pricing tba, watch the dBu thread in Marketplace for those details as they solidify. The only hold ups at this point are making up the web page and waiting for the new server space to be allocated to me.

I don't use ReCycle or Acid, or for that matter loops for the most part,
but what's really cool is the idea that people who use loops will now be
making uneven meter songs =)
Plus, Herodotus is cool so I'm thinking these loops have got to be pretty sweet.
In the last 2 days I've made 2 songs: one in 11 against 7 & one in 13, 9 and 4 so
obviously I'm into this kind of thing

You know, I didn't even see that pun.duncanparsons wrote:herodotus wrote:Time sigs include: 11/8, 7/8, 15/8, 5/8, 6/8, 3/4, and a couple folders in 4/4 for good measure, at tempi ranging from 80 bpm to 180 bpm.I love those kinds of puns.. I used to introduce a song 'This was written in 1972, but we're going to play it in 6/8'. Or at rehearsals 'In your own time.. I'm in 4..' Yip it's sad, but it keeps me amused!!
An example of what sleep deprivation will do over time.
Thanks!duncanparsons wrote:Great looking collection there!
I do believe it will be unique, for the sheer variety of meters offered alone.

i dont wanna be anal about this/anything, but i'd make more sense to refer to the different 'meters' as "time signatures". jmio. Please dont take this as an insult/anything.
On a more relevant note, 700 loops!??? wow! thats a lot of work! I'll check it out later this week

Actually, I think it is a british thing, and though I am an American, all of my musical dictionaries were written by brits, so.......keyman_sam wrote: i dont wanna be anal about this/anything, but i'd make more sense to refer to the different 'meters' as "time signatures". jmio. In any case I say 'meter' rather than time signature because the 'signature' is actually just the numbers that come after the clef sign. The actual meter may be different.
But I will still probably change the thread title.
Yeah, and not only did I play, record, mix, and edit every one of them, I did all of the Rex conversions on volume 2 as well.keyman_sam wrote:On a more relevant note, 700 loops!??? wow! thats a lot of work! I'll check it out later this week
Work, work, work...
Thank you for your interest.

Our man Herodotus is The Hardest Working Drummer In Ancient History.
Here is a piece of audio which employs a drum loop and a bass loop from ER2:
