is there a tutorial anywhere about setting up drums in sampletank and playability?
i'm running the studio drums capsule through sampletank 2 xl as a VST in cubase le. i can trigger midi sounds with my roland v kit, but have only figured out how to have 1 channel work in cubase. in other words, i can trigger all sounds through 1 channel in cubase with sampletank running in that channel. i want to be able to route each individual drum part to a different channel in cubase. does that make sense and is that possible?
i'm just having a hard time getting some flexibility out of all this as far as individual sounds go. any help would be appreciated or pointing me in the right direction. thanks.

hmm, perhaps my post was too specific or confusing as hell (probably the latter...)
any sampletank drum tutorials, vids, anything out there?

Only some of the things I did on www.sampletank.com But, I've been wanting to get finger drumming tutorials and other tips and tricks videos done for a while. It just takes time and good help. I wish we could find someone local who does great video editing that is affordable. That's hard to find it seems. I can do decent video editing myself but I am also doing a million other things too so... but I would love to have more videos on SR drums in ST and other formats. We'll do it!

thanks squids. let me ask a general question then. is it possible to pan the individual toms in studio drums in ST2? i can pan the hats left, rides right, snare and bass center, some crashes either way, but the toms are my problem since they tend to group as one. am i missing something? thanks.

A couple of years ago, I actually went out and bought Sampletank 2 XL after seeing your Sampletank demo videos. I had never heard of the product, or of IK or SR. But I do recall stumbling onto those videos and being blown away. What really got me though, were the drum riffs from your finger drumming. I consider myself a fairly accomplished keyboard player, but I've never been able do get a solid (usable) beat going freehand like that.Squids wrote:Only some of the things I did on www.sampletank.com But, I've been wanting to get finger drumming tutorials and other tips and tricks videos done for a while. I could watch you demo all day and still not get the hang of it myself, but count me among those who would really like to see a tutorial on that.

With ST2.1 it's possible to pan individual zones, so:t-willy wrote:thanks squids. let me ask a general question then. is it possible to pan the individual toms in studio drums in ST2? i can pan the hats left, rides right, snare and bass center, some crashes either way, but the toms are my problem since they tend to group as one. am i missing something? thanks.

1) Go into zone edit mode
2) Select the key you want to pan
3) Use the new "pan" knob in the synth section.

Been meaning to ask this. My combinations aren't loading into ST 2.1. Anyone else had this happen??
They are on my list, but when I select one it won't load my sounds.

Cubase SX3 has a Transformer MIDI insert effect, which allows you to set up rules to route keys or key ranges to seperate MIDI channels. I don't know about SE though.

This would take extra RAM in ST, as you would have to load anther instance of the same drumkit for each MIDI channel.
