Evening all.

I'm quite into my DJing these days, got a nice little CD mixing setup but still like to play with digital too.

I used to own live 4, and it was much better as a production tool than a DJing one. I've since sold it cos i was totally broke, but i can now get an upgrade from live 4 "lite" pretty cheap.

I know version 5 now supports MP3 - so basically do you kids think that its now a much more capable tool for DJing/live performance hybrid etc than it used to be?

Before anyone says "try the demo", i just want to hear some opinions first. My PC takes a lot of install/uninstall abuse and i'm busy learning Tracktion 2 among other things.

Is it really a huge step up in general from version 4? And now i think of it - does it work well rewired to tracktion?

the new Beat Repeat effect in 5 is cool from a djing point of view ... hours of fun ...the audio and midi editing is better, the browser is improved and it's happy with most vst plugins i've tried .. it's not a huge step up, but it's definately better. You still need to try the demo ... :hihi:

The new "Complex" warp mode auto stretches even longer MP3 songs to fit the tempo without problems. Very good!

Try the demo and see what you think!

Thats great news!

Not only did i HATE having to rip whole songs to wave files, but i often had strange problems loading whole songs. If i can avoid these issues i'll be a happy man.

Someone also mentioned the beat repeat thing, that sounds very cool!

it's possible to set up markers on different clips, all referring to the same wav/mp3 file , but looping different sections of it, so you can make loops without ever having to rip anything :D beat repeat = instant cutup beats
