I'm looking for a step-up from THe FL stuidio EQ
I'm looking at ANWIDA Soft GEQ31V
and the GEQ-7 by kjaerhusaudio

I'm under the impression that haveing a 31 band EQ would give me more control over my audio.
is this the case?
Pay $1,000 for a sequencer? ummm... no
I'm going to have to disagree with you there...

On the contrary, a parametric eq (kjaerhus in this case) will give you fine control over frequency and Q for each band, and since we are talking plugins here you can just load as many instances as needed.
On the other hand, a graphic eq (anwida in this case) might be simpler and more convenient depending on your needs.

If you are looking for a quality all-purpose eq, I'd go with kjaerhus.
The mind boggles.

Graphics are very limited - and they are bloody hard to use with a mouse. Plus - the big downside is that your audio is split in many bands, and that raises quality issues. On hardware eq, that adds up to a lot of noise. With software, noise isn't a problem, but damage from unnecessary filters might be.

It's easier and more accurate to have a sweepable parametric eq - easier on your mouse too. Plus, you can switch in as many filters as you need. Less damage.

I have the Anwida 31 band - and it's good. Anwida make great plugins that should be rated higher than they are.

But I also have Kjaerhus Golden GEQ-7 - and it sounds fantastic. I hardly touch the Anwida - only to remind myself of why I don't like graphic eq's.

I agree that a parametric is more flexible. But every now and then I use a graphic EQ just because its easier and more clearly layed out.

You should have both grafic and parametric EQ in your tool box.

But as far as a general tool, one is like a pro tool the other is a toy.
Just download the demos and trust your ears.
