Dale, the only thing you'll have to do is make sure you have authorized both machines on IK's site for each...harmony gardens wrote:This seems a peaceful place to ask a little more about how the keys will work. I'm seriously thinking of getting a laptop. I'd use it mostly as a live set up for a few gigs I have this summer, and some remote recording.
So I can load CSR and Philharmonik into both computers, and then using the one key containing both licenses, use the software on either computer?
I have a dongle hub so all I have to do is move the hub connection. It was pretty cheap and it has it's own power.

Ok...here's a question for Squids...
Any chance of getting the settings for some of the demos as presets? Are they already presets? I obviously could play around with it (like I said, I love to futz with stuff) but I'd like to see the settings that produced those sounds to learn from them.
Oh, and while you're at it, how about a CSR tutorial in your free time
Seriously, this is worth the price for just ONE of the plugs...it really surprised me how a good verb affects the overall sound.
Now, I'm an esoundz/SR/IK junkie so what I'm about to say won't surprise anyone. Miro and CSR are the best money I've spent so far on software for my home studio. Not that all my other IK/SR stuff isn't great but those plugs are just a ridiculous value.
I can't WAIT for Studiophonik and AT2!

Are you sure about this?? As I understand it, the iKey has the license.beergeek wrote: Dale, the only thing you'll have to do is make sure you have authorized both machines on IK's site for each...
The registration at IK is for the activation of the license to the key, isn't it?

I'm pretty sure I had to authorize my Mac even with the dongle...I only had Miro at the time but...

You're right...That's what it says in the CSR manual...I guess I'm confusing it with AT/ST/T-RacKs...Since I installed them all at the same time, it just seemed like I had to re-auth...flynn wrote:Are you sure about this?? Maybe you're not so wrong
I looked at my authorizations, and the CSR & Miro has up to 10 Digital-Id's. Why's that if the license is on the iKey........
Maybe you're right, and if so, It's not good. One of the upsides with dongles is that you dont have to hazzle with authorizations when moving between computers....
I hope I'm right and you're wrong

You know, I just looked and I only have 1 digital id for Miro and I know I had it installed on my PC before the mac...and the digital id on the site was from my first auth...it also doesn't match the other digital ids from my mac or my pc.flynn wrote:Maybe you're not so wrong![]()

The digital ids for Miro and CSR are different from the ones for my mac/pc and different from each other...
I'm only guessing here and I'm sure Squids or somebody can step in and correct my guess but...
I think the digital id is the iKey id and you're allowed 10 codes in case of moving reg from one key to another or getting a new key....
Just a guess...

Let's hear some more perspective from new users who haven't chimed in yet. I am highly inerested in CSR as I love the Lexicon sound. Up til now I had been using Waves IR1 and an assortment of impulses. It gets close but with varying results, but the biggest problem I have is that since convolution is more or less a static snapshot I find I can't get the exact reverb shape I need for the program material I am working on. If CSR can get the sound almost right and be tweakable down to the details I would be pleased. Anybody who has used a real 480l extensively care to comment how close CSR comes?
A couple other questions and concerns. Obviously, the plugin is dongled (very misleading at IK's website though). I use fxteleport extensively (3 computers). I assume since its dongled I can only run it on one computer and not, for example, my Nuendo dongle on the host machine and the supplied dongle on a slave machine? I can only guess that would be the case unfortunately which is a shame since it would be a big hurdle for me to overcome and lessen my likelyhood of buying it.
Also, will there be demo version anytime soon? I have a Syncrosoft dongle already, which could be used I am sure for such a purpose. Before making this investment I would definitely want to thoroughly preview this plugin in the context of my production setting.
What about the presets included with the plugin? How many? And do they represent at all the presets on the original 480l? Like "Fat Plate" "Gothic Hall" etc
No one has talked about bugs in CSR yet. Is this a good sign or is the verdict still out? Is CSR programed as a floating point vst or is it fixed?
And lastly, concerning the IK crossgrade price at esoundz, what is the lowest price possible? $219? Also, if I went the crossgrade path could I purchase Ampitube Live and CSR in the same transaction or would I have to get Amplitube first (shipped to me) to register before I am elible for the crossgrade pricing? How does this work?
anyways, sorry for all the questions
thanks

I got mine today!! It's really sweet! I wish I was more knowledgeable about reverbs to know if it sounds like this or that reverb, but this really does sound very nice. It's very smooth and clear. I'm glad I got this.

Hey Squids, I'm two seconds away from hitting the 'purchase' button over at your website for this, but I have a question first:
How does this dongle thing work? Specifically, it comes with it's own, or do we need to buy one seperately?
edit: Sorted. I'm in. The price is way too good to pass up.

It's right in the package with the disk. Just insert it into your usb port, and load the software. You have to copy the serial number off the card. Then when you load it in your host the first time, you get an authorization window, and a little info typing, and send it off to IK. In a few moments, your code comes back, copy/paste it into the authorization box, and enjoy!!Sickle wrote:Hey Squids, I'm two seconds away from hitting the 'purchase' button over at your website for this, but I have a question first:

Stupid USB dongles, I hate em, but I've read too many good things about this verb. I think it was an excellent idea to seperate the verb types into 4 plugs..
As far as sound demos go, I'm pretty heavy-handed with the verb on my dark ambient stuff, so next track I work on using this, I'll post a link to it here, no sweat..

And then that dongle will work in my laptop and desktop computers with just the one registration?harmony gardens wrote:It's right in the package with the disk.
