Female Vocal Sounds you might want - list them!

Sampler and Sampling discussion (techniques, tips and tricks, etc.)

Well I decided it might be a good idea to do a few vocal recordings - and post them up at the spe3d.com site when done.

So if there are any female vocal sounds, phrases, tones, ranges etc. you might think are interesting to add texture to a track (fx etc) list them here and I will see what happens :)

Preferred bit depth and sample rate would be good to know for the final product.

Best regards,

Hey Peter.

I think it would really be great just to have some nice, clean, single note samples, at various natural volume levels, with the whole gamut of sustainable vowel sounds, over the whole soprano/alto range.

If you got together more than one vocalist, the possibilities for making your own doo-wop choruses would be endless.

A huge project, to be sure, but you did ask.

Good luck with your cool new site BTW.

Sorry, number 68 and still no idea whta your girls could sing...

thanks for offering, at least this could have been said before.

EDIT: I was even slow at not being able to tell what I'd like to hear ... :-)

I tend to agree with herodotus about sustained vowel sounds - vocals are difficult to loop and still sound natural, but it can be done. Maybe some sung consonants as well?

Other than that, I seem to have a lot of sample libraries with cheesy stock phrases like "Ooh baby", "Feeling funky" etc., and I've never used any of them. Maybe try and find something different, like operatic vocals or gutteral noises. I'd love to be able to build up a piece like some of Bjork's latter work, with just vocal sounds rather than words.

That's just me though... :D

Edit: with regard to bit depth and sample rate, I'd be happy with 16/44.
Pithy apothegm goeth here...

Yes, vocal sounds are hard to do properly, so I think most of us would be quite happy with whatever you come up with :)

Nice vocals that can be used for a variety of backgrounds are always handy.

Something in Kontakt ,Soundfont or EXS24 format would be nice, and 16/44.1 is just fine.

Thanks for offering.

Who? Us? If so, no. Sounds a bit like DIVA though in concept
Perhaps a more modern female vocal as opposed to classical would move better, if I may say so.

In any case - best of luck and have fun Spe3d!

Peter,

I would be interested in some multisampled "Ah" phrases. 16/24bit - 44.

Thanks.

Oooooo. Ohhhhhhh. Ahhhhhh. Ayyyyyyy. Eeeeeeee. Mmmmmmm. Two girls. One and a half octaves. Four velocity layers. Soundfont format please. Has that about covered it ? ;-)

This sounds to me like a huge task. But good luck if you decide to go ahead.

Best Regards
