I thought about a FR to integrate the touchpad in the tablet app., but VST is a lot better.

Post

i can't get this to run on my Acer 1310 ... AMD 2600+ running XP

Post

how about using keyboard shortcuts? The numbers 1-4 for instance to toggle the locked state of the four controls?
Yes. This would definitely work.
I'm thinking they should store CC maps and the snapshots should be an internal feature.
With it being an internal feature, what limitations are there? I'm a bit naive with this one obviously.

I'm thinking about including keyboard keys to toggle controller sets as well , this could provide a pretty large number of possible CC's using one touchpad.

The caps lock key toggles exclusive access to the tablet (enables disables the mouse cursor)

+1

In regards to the latter, occasionally I use Midi Key Hook and it activates/deactivates by holding down the Caps_ESC keys. It would be very cool to have it so both your plug and MKH activate simultaneously with the caps.

Sorry - the program only works with the Synaptics touchpads, as they are the only touchpad manufacturer with an easy to use and easy to get developer kit.

It would be possible to add a "compatibility mode" that uses the position of the mouse cursor instead of the raw data from the pointing device but then you couldn't use a USB mouse simultaniously and you couldn't disable the mouse cursor.

Touchpad 2 Midi is now a VST plugin. It's available from the same location: here. The old version is still available here.

Still no GUI, hardcoded CC's / work modes.

No buttons: 4 vertical sliders
Hold Left Button: XY pad
Hold Right Button: 4 drum pads

I know the drumpads don't work well while holding down the right mouse button, but to be honest I'd rather be drumming on my semi-weighted MIDI controller than on my touchpad - it's included as a curiosity.

Pressure is not yet mapped, it will probably be available on the XY pad only, doesn't make much sense on a slider as it's not a real pressure parameter anyways.

Tested with Midiview in XT: no output at all, cursor not released. The old version runs fine.

I forgot to mention the most important new feature

It now has an "on" button :)

You need to activate the CAPS LOCK on your keyboard for the touchpad to start working as a midi controller - this disables the mouse cursor.

Yesss, got it, works perfectly. Just need a 3rd hand now.

oooooooooh baby cant wait to try this out........I was going to request disabling the mouse cursor :D

Synaptics touchpads provide a little bit of pressure info as well, edit: resolution is pretty good actually. There are other weird touchpad specific events like "double finger tap" "triple or more finger tap" that could probably be mapped out as well. And there are three buttons there as well.

interesting. Do you think it's technically doable to make a 4x4 drumpad out of it?

edit: reading further, I guess not (it's only the 4 corners?)

hi ohm!
cool!!
would it be possible to have the XY mode without pressing any button...
would be nice to have a menu where you assign wich modes do you want assigned to the buttons..

my ideal would be

XY no button
4 faders R button
4 triggers L button

;)
